Senate health care bill: The horror of being forced to work with the enemy

Oh, the horror. After 8 years of having a NO NO NO temper tantrum on everything, to be forced, kicking and screaming, to negotiate with the hated enemy who they loath more than anything. I wonder if they will wear space suits to avoid being contaminated by the air Democrats exhale. Can you imagine the sleepless nights tossing and turning trying to think of any way to avoid compromise.

McConnell warns Trump, GOP on health bill failure

If Obamacare repeal fails in the Senate, the GOP might be forced to compromise with Democrats.

Mitch McConnell is delivering an urgent warning to staffers, Republican senators and even the president himself: If Obamacare repeal fails this week, the GOP will lose all leverage and be forced to work with Chuck Schumer.

Of course the Pubs will compromise with the Dems....if they want it to pass.
I wonder what it will look like?

The above post was fueled by a teensy bit of Ameratto.

As small of a "lead" the GOP has in Senate I don't know how they didn't see the need to work with Democrats themselves.

If by some miracle such a thing comes to pass, we'll know that much delayed but still alive our dreams it will be

I'd like to see some hands reaching across the table myself.

This partisan bullcrap is slowly killing our nation and all the Democrats and Republicans care about is exclusively themselves, what's in it for themselves, and the special interests they are beholden to and serve.

In the meantime, people are getting angrier and angrier.

Sadly, no.

First of all, it is a big IF, and it would be wrong to confuse a delay until after the July 4th recess with a GOP defeat. The next few weeks will be a period of the sharpening of knives and the honing of talking points. The GOP no-votes should expect a more than unpleasant siege.

Secondly, from three months ago:

Never underestimate the vulgar spitefulness of the GOP leadership or the political cowardice of its base.

Why are republicans surprised that medicare is being cut? Social Security is up next. Why would someone who's elderly vote for people that want to dismantle these programs?

Never vote republican if you're in the middle class. They even tell you they're going to destroy these programs. No one should be surprised once they do. It's all about corporate policy.

Well, they need to work together. I am tired of our elected officials from both sides behaving like children. Obama care isn't working (at least not in my state) and we have to buy it, (I don't as I cant afford it so I do without.). But so far the only good thing I can see (so far anyway) about the GOP plan is that I wont be forced to buy it. Point is, surely the Dems and Pubs could work out something beneficial for all of us. I'm not holding my breath, but I can hope.

Both sides behaving like children? Democrats don't have a problem with their elected officials. The ACA isn't working in your state? What state is that? Most people have insurance through their employer.
The GOP may not force you to buy it, but you'll spend a lot more money. I like my tax dollars coming back to me at some point.
This isn't about democrats and the new healthcare bill. This is the GOP establishment fighting with the teaparty far-right fringe. The GOP wants more profits for their Big Pharma lobbyists. Which is why they don't want pre-existing conditions covered.
Personally, I'm sick of these corporations that rely on tax dollars to enhance their profits. They even buy up congress with the hopes of that.

Yes. If Dems are in control the GOP digs in and says no. If GOP is in control the dems dig in and say no. Regardless if the other side has a good idea or not.

The ACA isn't working in your state? What state is that?

Oklahoma. And yes I know that is partially my states govt. fault.

Most people have insurance through their employer.

I'm a small business owner. I fell between the cracks in the system.

The GOP may not force you to buy it, but you'll spend a lot more money.

Don't know till I see it, but like I said before, I'm not holding my breath.

I like my tax dollars coming back to me at some point.

Now here is something that I can agree with you 100%.

This isn't about democrats and the new healthcare bill.

Its about both the Dems and the GOP. They are bot supposed to be working for our best interests.

Personally, I'm sick of these corporations that rely on tax dollars to enhance their profits. They even buy up congress with the hopes of that.

Wow. Two things I agree I agree with you on. How'd that happen?

Unfortunately, I do fully believe We the People must adopt scorched earth practices on DC to purge ourselves of this taint and cleanse the corruption. Next year, instead of voting for the same damn thing, We must insist every single elected official be removed from office, their post-service pay and benefits revoked, and all new politicians sent in who lack the R or D label.

Democrats are no different. They have their own form of cronyism, special interest, and back scratching going on at the expense of the Middle class. Ever hear of backroom deals? Closed door sessions? New York, a blue state, is full of them.

The whole lot of them are whiny self serving kindergardeners.

People seem to talk more now of the ever growing plausibility of a second civil war breaking out over the sheer pressure cooker frustration that is progressively building up as a result of poor and neglectful decision making by our representatives. I can only hope it still stays in the conspiratorial realm, and not manifest in reality someday. Fingers crossed.

For the immediate moment, I'd definitely back any candidate that favors term limits and completely ban corporate, and special interest lobbying that is clearly influencing our election process and destroying a way of life that so far, a few generations have briefly enjoyed in our past history as a country.

I'd hate to see the ideals behind economic and personal freedoms disappear for good that so many people have died over already.

I hear that a lot as well. Unfortunately, people have forgotten it's much easier than that and they talk about wanting change but they never do anything meaningful to actually go about getting it. All it takes is just one good "vote third party" grassroots movement, and that alone could obliterate the two-party grid lock on Capitol Hill if neither party is left with a majority.

The parties aren't the same. Not even close. Only 1 party thinks corporations are people. Only 1 party thinks unlimited anonymous donations for elections are good. Only 1 party hates unions and wage increases. Only 1 party is against regulations hurting bottom lines. You see, when republicans talk they're not speaking for the middle class. Only 1 party denies climate change for profit reasons. It goes on and on.

Republicans are corporate policy
Democrats are middle class policy

They never tell you that.
