Send Them Back to Hell

Trump's plan to revoke Temporary Protected Status of immigrants in the US and deport millions is sheer cruelty.

There are 651,000 Ukrainians here under TPS. Will he ship them back into a war zone?

There are scores of thousands of Haitians here under TPS. Today Haiti is a hellscape of gang violence and murder. Just yesterday gangs shot up an airliner on approach to Port au Prince. All flights to Haiti have been suspended. Will he send these Haitian immigrants back to die at the hands of these gangs?

Unknown. But when you link an Axios article I'd much prefer you use their headline, i.e.,

What Trump's MAGA allies have planned for immigration in Project 2025,

instead of your editorial take on the issue, if only because it promotes clarity.

As for Trump and TPS, I found the following AFSC 2020 appeal worth reading:

Whatever Trump attempts this time around, there is no doubt hundreds of thousands of good people are now deeply frightened, and with good reason. That there are those in this country, and almost certainly some on RF, who view this with sick satisfaction or indifference disgusts me more than I can adequately express.

While I don't like that the world seems inflamed with misery, what exactly is it that we have here, that cannot be replicated elsewhere, that people come here in such desperation to try and get? All we have in america are some ideas that we try to live by, right? If these ideas can't solidify in other places, then what are they worth. Nowhere on earth is 'hell,' or has to be.

If the Left was elected, and they would be able to stay, then whatever, fine. But that doesn't free the world - because the argument seems to be that you need to come here to benefit from an idea. Ideas aren't physical though, they can go anywhere. You can be free anywhere, and have peace anywhere.

Well let us know if that actually happens, or if you're just yet again blowing hot air all over the place like you usually do.

I suspect the situation will be dealt with more humanely and appropriately with regard for various types of immigrants and situations, as Rep. Byron Donald’s states in the video linked below. It’s definitely inhumane to allow thousands and thousands of people to be brought across the border to be sex trafficked or used as slave labor in this country. Nor is it okay to allow criminals from other countries to illegally continue to enter.

What people need to know is that they are under temporary protection status. That means there is an expiration date on that temporary status and whether they go back or not will obviously be due to a review process that can go one way or the other.

And what percentage of immigrants people are these criminals?

Then I guess that as you lose more and more of "what we have her that cannot be replicated elsewhere," then people will begin to lose interest in, and the tired, poor, and huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of those teeming shores will prefer to stay home or find somewhere else.

Will that make you feel better?

What people need to now is that they could be torn apart thanks in part to people like you.
What I see here isn't us tearing people apart.

They have torn themselves apart long before they arrived here. Put the blame where it properly goes.

I don’t know, but that would be important information for those in charge to know or find out.
Your assertions about criminals and trafficking are justifications MAGA are using for deporting ALL immigrants, even those protected under TPS. A few bad ones makes it OK to throw ALL of the out.

I mean, isn't that what Jesus would do?

Likely, he will push to do this. Especially Ukrainians who have basically, in switch of ties, become "enemies" of the new republic. I doubt Trump cares about Haitians or what's happening in Haiti.

I don’t look at it that way. Certainly, the criminals shouldn’t be allowed to remain in the country. I think the trafficking situation is horrendous and must be stopped. I have read that nearly 300,000 immigrant children are missing and our government doesn’t know where they are!
As far as other immigrants, if they came illegally then they have broken the law and must either return to their home country or go through the immigration process legally. As with any situation there may be exceptional and/or emergency cases, but it appears most of the immigration over the past few years have not been such cases.

Jesus opposes lawlessness.

I think that's not a polite way to think of other people. Humans are empowered by ideas, which lack physicality. I don't think of other people as 'wretched refuse'

Apparently less and less more and more. The question then becomes whether you're part of the problem or part of the cure.
You've lost me with this figurative language. I think that the drama of human miseries will probably go on in perpetuity, unless we better identify what the cure is. It doesn't matter if people come here, or not. They aren't being sated in some fundamental social sense, and if they can't in theory be socially sated in the places they came from, under the direction of good social ideas, which by default lack physicality, then I don't know what to tell you.

It's from a poem on the Statue of Liberty.

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
