Sex Education Homework

I saw this in an article from the Independent and thought it was worth sharing. :D

A 14-year-old has been suspended from school over her remarkably blunt answers when asked about the possible excuses a partner might give for not wearing a condom.Jordan Fridman, 21, shared an image of her younger sister Mariah’s homework for a sex-education class at her school in Montreal on Imgur. Fridman uploaded the image with the caption: “Two years ago today, my then 14-year-old sister got suspended for submitting these answers for her sex-ed class. I’m so proud of her.” It has since been viewed three million times.

The homework assignment, entitled ‘Objection to Condoms’, asked students to list a few responses of their own.One of the possible excuses included: “Condoms are gross, they’re messy; I hate them”, to which Mariah, now 16, responded: “So are babies”.The excuse “just this once; we hardly ever have sex” was followed by “now you know why”, while “I don’t have a condom with me” was met with: “I don’t have my vagina with me”. Explaining her decision to post the homework assignment, Fridman told BuzzFeed: “It came up in my Timehop. This was kind of funny, I thought: Let’s post this to Imgur."

However, she wasn’t expecting it to go viral. “Obviously, it’s kind of hilarious, but I don’t know, we’ve been freaking out over it,” she said.
Mariah's answers were applauded on Imgur. One user wrote: "Can confirm, babies are gross and expensive. Your sister was wise beyond her years," while another added: "'I don't have my vagina with me' give this girl a Nobel prize."
Her choice of language did raise a few eyebrows, with one teacher noting: "I respect the kind of answers she gave, but the language is a good reason for action. Perhaps not suspension though."

Excellent--much better than "16 and pregnant" and "Keeping up with the Kardashians" and whatever other media shows and educational shows and school programs that aren't blunt enough.

She was smarter at 14 than many others at 25. Brilliant answers, independently of the harsh language.

What? Me worry?
Smart girl. Suspension over the language is too harsh. The homework assignment is a good idea, though. More schools should do it.

Yeah, she should have said something along the lines as "...I don't have Miss Puss with me...". That would've showed them.

"I didn't bring my vagina with me". That one cracked me up. Her answers were quite accurate.

Was *that* the language that got people riled up? In a sex education class???? if you can't say penis and vagina then, I don't know what the point of the class is supposed to be.

I don't understand the suspension. What answers did they expect? She's a clever girl. We should be more concerned that 14 year olds are having sex and therefore need to insist on condoms.

I needed to see this after hearing a story of a woman who believed she could have babies with another woman and no male interference, and then assumed she was infertile because she tried with both genders (male first) and then exclaimed that she didn’t need a man in her life when they tried to explain the science to her. That 14-year-old is brilliant and honest.

This was a homework assignment? It might have been okay for a class discussion, but it seems rather pointless to assign for homework.

But she shouldn't have used the F-word in this assignment. Some schools take a dim view of kids swearing. I was never allowed to swear until I moved out of the house.

Okay swearing in a homework assignment I can understand maybe a detention. But suspension is too harsh. Also this girl deserves a medal with them answers lol

She said "****" but it was blurred out in the picture. Still stupid that she was suspended, though.
