Many small countries don't try to rule (or police) the world and have an army just big enough to defend itself.
The richest country in the world has a bloated industrial-military complex and on top of that a very everybody-for-themselves mentality and is a tax haven for the super rich.
I often wonder what social programs we could afford if we quit trying to be the world police.

Oh, and by the way, we are about to arrest Germany.

Drug dealers deserve harsh punishment.
Addicts are sick and need help.

The moral weakness is in doing neither.
The USA both punishes drug dealers and helps addicts. The point is not doing it or not doing it, but how much.

Really?

There are plenty to choose from. I’ll leave links to Swedish sites out of it (because they’re in Swedish) but all countries have bodies that authorise and monitor higher education.

In the US, universities are not accredited by the government, but by these guys, who must adhere to Federal education standards, so kinda: The Higher Learning Commission
Excerpted....
As a federally recognized accrediting agency, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is required to assure that all its member institutions are meeting their Title IV program responsibilities as well as complying with the expectations of specific regulations accreditors must enforce as a part of their recognition by the U.S. Department of Education. Compliance with these requirements by both institutions and HLC is necessary to ensure that institutions accredited by HLC are eligible for federal financial aid.

It appears to apply only to member institutions.
But that is interesting.

Really.

This thread is in the N Ameristanian Politics forum.
So I thought schools there were the ones discussed.
Well, no. Because what you and I were speaking of was that other countries [than US] have free higher education and you asked how that affected their quality and the competition to get admitted, etc. When I answered, you asked for sources. Am I insane here?! You’re worrying me; I could be losing my marbles
