What do you think of the CDC statistics I linked to in the OP and cited in my previous post?

No offense intended but: Of no relevance.
A low rate of adverse effects doesn't make a difference as far as bodily autonomy is concerned.

I don't think what you outlined is the only reason someone could be okay with circumcision of children, but I would agree it is a reason many people don't question the practice.

What other reasons can you bring up?

Personally, if I had children, I wouldn't have them circumcised unless it were medically necessary. I would strongly prefer to leave that choice for them when they became adults.

That should be the norm.

I would not make it illegal for the sake of the religions which practice it and also for the sake of tribal tats, ear rings and other tribal customs. I don't think we are 'Developed' enough to make decisions for parents of other people's children. First make a human that is demonstrably unselfish. There isn't one, and concern about other people's children is hard to believe. Others will let your children starve, but they think they care about whether you circumcise. No I don't believe it.

People do not care unless it costs them nothing.

Incidentally, because it wasn't mentioned earlier, there are in fact levels of FGM that are equivalently risky to male infant circumcision, such as level IV pricking, or partial hoodectomies. They are all categorically banned, not because of health reasons, but because there aren't cultural reasons to keep it.

1) Should circumcision of male infants or children be banned in cases where it is not deemed by doctors to be medically necessary?
Yes.
2) If you think it should be banned, should religious exemptions be granted to people whose religions mandate circumcision of their children?
No. It should be the decision of the one getting cut, NOT the parents. It's not the parent's life, it is the child's, and as it's a permanent body modification the person receiving it must agree.

We haven't had this one in quite a time. But classics never get old.

Circumcision, like FGM, is an irreversible mutilation and it already is illegal in all civilised countries.
There are exceptions, though. I don't understand how mutilating an infants genitalia can have exemption from persecution, especially in a secular country. Should not the law be for all equal?

Last time this came up. I had a passionate but fair debate with @Harel13 and my general position hasn't changed. I don't want that exemption in my country and I would strongly suggest that all modern, civilised countries ban the practise. There may be countries that haven't left the bronze age, yet, and I guess it would be OK for them to first reach Enlightenment before they also start banning it.

The problem here is that you perceive it as a parental choice issue. We are not taking over parents' power though to make that choice, rather we are saying no one else other than the very person that is going to be subjected to this procedure, not even parents, can make that choice.

The thing i have against circumcision is that it is usually done before the baby/child has a say in what happens to their own body. If it were postponed until (say) mid to late teens then fine with disclosure and the agreement of whomever was to undergo the procedure.
Not sure if it's been brought up yet, but do you have any idea of the difference in pain between having the procedure at infancy and having it in the teens? A great deal more nerve endings have developed by that age.

Which is absolutely irrelevant.

It is not uncommon for people to get their child's ears pierced when they are infants.

Not that I see much harm in that, just sayin.
This was my initial thought as well, but the difference is this:

One can remove earrings and allow the holes to close. I don't think one can regrow foreskin. I've been trying for decades...along with my hair.
