So, you recommend mind-reading. Indeed, that is certainly helpful. *rolls eyes*In case of doubt, it is always a no.

Not sure if it's been brought up yet, but do you have any idea of the difference in pain between having the procedure at infancy and having it in the teens? A great deal more nerve endings have developed by that age.
I don't recall having any pain during the procedure. I'm sure I likely would, however, if it was done in my teens.I'm sure it would be painful for a child as well... No one ever asks though.

Maybe that's why circumcision is done as an infant rather in the teens then?My hubby doesn't recall any pain either. Funnily enough he doesn't recall anything until he was 3

Not asking but measuring. Early childhood pain does lead to permanent modifications to the brain. That's why today surgery of infants is done under anaesthetics.I'm sure it would be painful for a child as well... No one ever asks though.
Choice is a social construct. Children cannot choose, and we choose things for them that are far more important, detrimental or beneficial. It is irrelevant what you think someone ought to do for their child. You won't pay for any of it. You're aren't interested in their child the way that they are. If the parent chooses to abandon the child, that child is totally screwed; but you already don't care about that particular child. Do you see how you are imposing your will where it is not needed? The problem here is that you perceive it as a parental choice issue. We are not taking over parents' power though to make that choice, rather we are saying no one else other than the very person that is going to be subjected to this procedure, not even parents, can make that choice.
Yes.Should circumcision of male infants or children be banned
No.should religious exemptions be granted
I'm sure most of us did that at some point. Not asking but measuring.
After the fact isn't obtaining proper consent.Let's ask them!
It's a permanent body modification that rarely serves any medical need. That means a clear and informed consent must be obtained or the procedure is an unethical and immoral violation of bodily autonomy. Is it one blink for yes and two for no? I can never remember.
According to what? It's a permanent body modification that rarely serves any medical need. That means a clear and informed consent must be obtained or the procedure is an unethical and immoral violation of bodily autonomy.
Those nerve endings are already there, amd I'm not sure there's any difference in pain. It's probably far worse for the infants as to my knowledge no anesthesia is used, and it gices the baby a very early shot of brain-malforming stress hormones. Not sure if it's been brought up yet, but do you have any idea of the difference in pain between having the procedure at infancy and having it in the teens? According to basic human decency and rights.According to what?
I don't find my parents indecent humans (well at least for that reason) and don't feel my rights have been violated.According to basic human decency and rights.
The act itself is if you were unable to consent to it. You may not feel your rights were violated, but they probably were I assume there was no real reason to have it done. Amd in America it's generally done anymore as a tradition, and what makes it cultural barbarism is the tradition is rooted in America's traditional Christian beliefs and unfortunate anti-sex views.I don't find my parents indecent humans (well at least for that reason) and don't feel my rights have been violated.
Sure there was a reason. I was Catholic. The act itself is if you were unable to consent to it.
