Preach! People love to act like they NEED to be waited on.
There seems to be an undercurrent with some folks of having the right to be treated like royalty without providing royal compensation. Or that commoners understand what are royal expectations, anyway.
I mean, really, people don't have to prepare the food, they don't have to cook it, they don't have to set the table, they don't have to think of condiments, they don't have to think of silverware, they don't have to think of drink refills, they don't have to clean up, and they don't have to sweep and vacuum and wash linens and fold napkins and fill sugars and salt/pepper shakers....heck, being waited on means you
don't have to do anything except sit on your butt and enjoy somebody looking out for you.
My husband usually leaves the tip amount to me, because he knows that if he tips less than I think the server deserves, he'll never hear the end of it. So, he just nips it in the bud by passing the bill over to me to fill out and for him to sign.
