Should we be disrespectful towards the Bible?

I don't think it's possible to get rational information about God from any source. I don't think the idea (or rather the family of ideas that all share the name "God") is rational to begin with.
I said: How would anyone expect to get information about God if not from a human being. I am waiting for an answer, but make it rational.

I was not asking about getting rational information about God, I was asking for another way to get information about God other than from Messengers of God, and I wanted a rational answer.

But while we are on the subject, why wouldn't it be possible to get information about God from any source?

People often ask about faith and the Bible gives the answer. It is very often not what people think faith is.
That is not what I asked. I asked, Of what value is that definition? A definition is not valuable just because someone chose to write it down.

How can the value be determined if is entirely subjective? One person (for example, me) knows that it has real value. Another person (for example, you) may value it differently. I accept it, you reject it. Whose fault is that?

Are you looking for an answer or just being argumentative? I am a Christian, and know what faith is, but you don't want to accept my answer.

You fail to understand it is circular that your beliefs define your beliefs. this fails to communicate with others that do not believe as you do.
You are just speaking subjectively, i.e., you are unable to understand. There are many others who clearly understand what I write. Why? Because their minds are open to understanding, while yours is closed.

All I asked you is if what value is the definition. You could have defined the parameters of your valuation however you chose. You could have just said, the value of defining faith that way is [insert answer here].

I cannot be argumentative against your answer because you have not provided one. I cannot accept or reject your answer because you have given me nothing to evaluate.

The attitudes of some people in this discussion are exactly the same as those of the Pharisees who criticized Jesus. Their goal was to prove Him wrong. They were not interested in learning anything from God incarnate because they thought that they already had the answers. I have been a Christian for many years and can quickly tell when people's minds are closed. They refuse to listen and perhaps learn something. Their motive is to prove me wrong, which is typical of latter-day Pharisees. A closed mind is a serious handicap to learning anything!

Fine, then drop out of the discussion.

I have something that some people on this forum lack: citizenship in the kingdom of heaven. I have been born of the Spirit and live in Christ.

There is a brief parable about this in Matthew 13:45, “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he found a pearl of great value, he went out and sold everything he had and bought it."

If you're interested, let's discuss it. If you want to claim that I don't have that citizenship and you simply want to argue, I am not interested. If I must, I will put people who just want to attack me personally, I will put them on "ignore".

And there is the foundation of modern Christianity. You come in with bluster, indignation, and marketing slogans. But when given an opportunity to lay out the substance behind your assertions, all that we get are snarling evasions and biting retreats.
Read the previous post. I am not interested in your personal opinion of me. Read my "signature" below...

What is foolish is to try to get spiritual answers from an ancient book of myths called the Bible.
What is foolish is poorly conceived comments such as this. People have derived spiritual answers from their formative stories for millennia. If you can't defend ontological naturalism without sweeping Bible bashing, the problem is yours.

LOL. You have offered nothing but bluster, indignation, and marketing slogans. Now in your disinterest you are offering ... bluster, indignation, and marketing slogans. You have strutted and fretted your hour on the stage. Now place me on ignore.

I was being facetious....
I know there are spiritual answers in the Bible, I just wanted to see how many people would come out and defend the Bible, and I found out. ;)

I wasn't trying to defend ontological naturalism.

Again . . .

If you don't understand what I write, that is your problem, not mine. You have closed your mind; you clearly refuse to learn anything.

Which is debatable - just not for you. You have closed your mind on that question (and some others).
If you're interested, let's discuss it. If you want to claim that I don't have that citizenship and you simply want to argue, I am not interested. If I must, I will put people who just want to attack me personally, I will put them on "ignore".
I have an alternative suggestion: we have multiple DIRs where some questions are presumed to be answered and not debatable within. Restrict your posting to those DIRs and you won't find as much antagonism.

Okay, you are now on ignore. Are you proud of yourself?

My communication is not the problem, it's your inability to understand. I doubt you will ever be able to understand with your current attitude. SAD!
