Silence is ...an audible sound? One of 7? Sorrry, i understand physics, not nonsense.

no i said silence is audible, detectable. if it wasn't perceived then how do you know its silence? how can you know something is present; if you can't sense it?

I agree with all but the last statement. Silence is the absence of perception by who/what ever is not perceiving sound. Silence is nothing.

silence isn't nothing; the sense of touch perceives levels of vibration. when vibration is latent it doesn't mean nothingness, it senses stillness; which is what silence is. the latency of vibration is again sensed as touch. if using the ocular sense it's sensed as latent movement; which again is stillness.

so its called silence as relates to the auditory. it's called stillness as relates to the sense of tactile. and ocular.

everything formed has its counterpart. movement vs rest. silent/still is rest.

without contrast there could be no sense of this vs that.

Silence is what noise isnt. Therefore, formed.

actually you have it azzbackwards. silence is resting; which is unformed. noise is formed.

unformed is passive and forming, or informing, is active.

Silence is ... NOT perceived...the opposite of perceived. When one DOES NOT perceive sound, it's called silence.

silence can be detected by at least 3 means, touch, sight, and sound.

deaf people sense music, speech, and other sounds as vibrations of touch . they can also detect silence by touch too.

So if a tree fell in the forest....

Unless in complete vacuum the sound waves of splitting wood, branch movements and the tree hitting the ground would propagate. No doubt there would be birds and other animals around to hear it.

I think that is one of the most poorly thought out philosophical conundrums ever.

But it's not present. By definition it's a nothing. It's not so much perceived as inferred.

Yeah, it's pretty hackneyed. Like many so called conundrums it's just a matter of definition. It assumes nothing present to hear it so, if sound is vibration, it makes a sound, if sound's the perception of vibration, it does not.
It's still perceived, even if as a lack of something.
I'd say inferred. Perception usually implies sensory input

sensory input can detect both something and it's inverse. nothing doesn't exist in physics, or space. the absence of something; isn't the absence of everything else.

silence is the absence of the other 7 audible sounds. silence is audible. its a paradox.

its the 8th understood.

Shh! Sound health in 8 steps
I beg to differ. Sound exists only in the mind. It is a subjective interpretation of energy (sound) waves registered by a sensor (the ear) and transmitted to the CNS. Only then does sound exist. What are you even talking about 7 audible sounds? Sound waves exist within an infinitesimally divisible continuous variable of wave lengths and amplitudes. There are an infinity of distinguishable sounds. Calling something a paradox when it is easily explainable by physics as a continuous variable is just soft thinking.

Dark is the absence of light.
Cold is the absence of heat.
Silence is the absence of sound.

Silence is the absence of sound.

the absence of light is dark energy and dark matter

cold and heat both exist

silence is a vibration outside of the hearing range of humans.

No. A tree falling would transform potential energy into kinetic energy in the form of sound waves, anyone there or not. Sound is the subjective interpretation of sound waves in the mind and only exists within the mind.

Silence is never present. It can't be detected. It is a label we use when we want to indicate that "no sound is being heard." Note the word NO.

No they can't. This really is first year physics. Pick up a book and stop trying to make a basic first year lesson into some kind of philosophical rant.

Wow! Where do you get this from? Light, heat, and sound-waves, are all quantifiable forms of energy. When any of them are equal to ZERO, we have the absence of light (dark), the absence of heat (cold), and the absence of sound (silence). All of these quantities exist as continuous variables.
