similarities between islam and christianity

that's an interesting point. must something be new, confusing, or intricate to warrant attention?
No.
But the fact that it has been done before does lead to the possibility that it is merely a repeat of the before.

A "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it" type thing.

i wouldn't disagree with that.

[FONT=Verdana,Arial]Muhammad is the messenger of God. And those with him are firm against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves. Thou seest them bowing and falling prostrate, seeking bounty from God and (His) acceptance. The mark of them is on their foreheads from the traces of prostration. Such is their likeness in the Torah and their likeness in the Gospel like as sown corn that sendeth forth its shoot and strengtheneth it and riseth firm upon its stalk, delighting the sowers that He may enrage the disbelievers with (the sight of) them. God hath promised, unto such of them as believe and do good works, forgiveness and immense reward. 48:29

so what does this mean? one things this verse could be saying is that the likeness of one who follows the scriptures given to him and lives his faith is as a fruitful stalk, that grows and flourishes with faith and understanding, and that those who deny God's favor, guidance, and mercy are angered and confounded by the good fruits that the faithful put forth, and confounded and angered by even the sight of their worship.

the repetition, in fact i find it really interesting. i'm reading the Upanishads right now, and i'm reading a lot of interesting Quranic parallels there, too.
