Sir Elton John boycotts Dolce & Gabbana after row over same-sex families

How is it trickier between two females? I thought it was the other way around. (Don't ruin my dream, man!)

All about those chromosomes:

Dr Hanna says he is highly optimistic that the second stage of the research will be successful as the process has worked when these cells were injected into mice testes and ovaries. Although Dr Hanna says there is still a long way to go before lesbian couples might be able to also have biological babies.

He adds that while the process is especially feasible for stem cells from two males, it would be more difficult using two women’s due to the added complexity of having to add a Y chromosome.

“We can lose a chromosome but not add one,” explains Dr Hanna.

Yeah, it would just mean that two females could only have daughters.

Why would they need to add a Y chromosome? A lot of people get by just fine without one of those things.

Maybe more transgender people is just what this world needs.
No, we don't. It's a very painful experience, a lot of regret, a lot of dreams that never will or can be, a lot of tears, and is a life of some hopes that may be salvageable. This is before you add in the social difficulties.
I am actually gravely concerned about this as a consequence of tampering with the chromosomes. It may not happen, but it may also be needlessly condemning a child to a very difficult life.

What? Me worry?
But I was refering to this:

"You're missing the point. Even if one of the couples were artificially knocked-up it really wouldn't be the product of the marriage."

Children aren't the product of marriage, ever.
Sometimes single people get pregnant. Sometimes married people get pregnant.
Sometimes married people get pregnant with someone other than their spouse.
No connection between a child and the parents choices.
Tom

I'm certainly glad you clarified your original statement.

Why on earth should anyone care what a couple of dress designers and a pop-singer think about anything? I certainly won't be canvassing the opinions of my tailor and shirt-maker.

In the case of D&G, I think that the media frenzy is a result of their own sexual orientation. Conservatives point to this and say, see? It isn't anti-gay to harbor these opinions.

I've been boycotting DG ever since they didn't make steel toed work boots.

And there we have it... only self-hating homosexuals would shy away from such butch accessories! The ladies doth protest too much, methinks (to mangle a literary phrase).

Every child definitely needs a mother and a father. Not two fathers.

Well let's see...

A mother and father, male and female, you know, traditional, who are substance abusers, abusive and neglectful of their children, possibly on the gov't dole v. two men or two women with good jobs,, clean and sober, doting on the children, and the children wanting for nothing. But I guess the drunken, stoned and unemployed parents are better 'cuz they're traditional male and female parents. Yep, works for me!

Am I the only one who has no idea who or what this D&G is? I've never even heard of him, them, it (I don't even know if it's the name of individuals or a company or both) before this thread.
Sometimes, rather just about all the time, I wish the fashion industry as a whole would just vanish, completely, entirely, and without any traces or memories, so people would move onto something that actually matters. Such superficial obsessions I can only hope quickly and mostly, if not entirely, departs society and public thought, and becomes socially on par with promoting slavery in terms of acceptability.

Totally with you here.
People just need a little protection from the elements. Not expensive packaging of the assets.

My female partner and I are going to give our future kids the best start in life as we possibly can. We hope to adopt 1 and I hope to squeeze out 1. We hope to raise responsible and empathetic human beings.
I can't say much for empathy, other than don't be hard on them if they don't have it because they biologically/genetically may not be capable of it, but I'm sure you will make a wonderful mommy.
