Slavery was a choice

And you go on and on ignoring the point of the op concerning the existing racism that Epic experiences. The only thing I can conclude is that you are using this smoke screen to maintain a comfortable status quo.
This reminds me of the Kaepernic fiasco. He was protesting racism in America and the racists stole the argument and transformed it into one of patriotism.

...and racism continues.
Once again, you have nothing to refute my claims. I present you with facts and multiple links to support my claims and you have NOTHING! You have failed...it is quite an epic failure at that. ;)

I shall demonstrate how.

What happened was, I was reading the posts on this thread, and a valid point was brought up that was indicating that some people are doing far better today, than they would be doing in Africa, had their ancestors not been brought to America.

I presented the facts, and what I have witnessed personally that would support this observation, that most people are too politically correct to even mention, despite it being so obvious!

Then you stepped in with an emotional argument that had nothing to do with an ability to reason or present facts, just had to do with your feelings, and threw out personal attacks like "racism" and words like "Strawman"...neither of which had anything to do with what I was saying. It's really sad when political correctness causes people to identify something as racist, that isn't racist at all, and is easy to prove. It's quite sad, that simply listing an easily observable fact is these days something that is treated as "racist".

Why wouldn't they? Would you rather be living in abject poverty in Africa? Do you believe that would be better?

Africa is the richest continent on this planet. I'd rather live in an environment where I at least am not forced to assimilate to a culture that sees me as 3/4 ths as a person. I rather have my original ancestral language. I rather would like to know my ancestral history. However due to the imperial campaign of Europeans and the middle passage and the subsequent forcing of assimilating to the New World I am now robbed of that and so now I am an indigenous member of the United States. I am proud to be an American, however my pride does not overshadow the desire to know my ancestral homeland. If you think Africa is just huts and flies you need to get out more.

My homework? You're the guy who thinks it's all mudhuts and abject poverty. If you're going to prove that you've got your work cut out for you.

If you can't make out what's in the picture I showed you, that's on you. Hint: it's not mudhuts.
Ironically enough, that is a swell example of a straw man(pay attention now). I did not assert "all"Africans live in mud huts. There are however still plenty of tribal Africans that do, and that means it's a real example of how some Africans live, and therefore perfectly valid by contrast.

But even if we were to compare the best Africa has to offer, say Cairo(which is properly part of middle eastern/Muslim culture rather than black African) or Johannesburg (which was under Dutch rule until recently) with the worst America has to offer(say East Detroit) how would they stack up do you think? Quality of life? Healthcare? Safey? Human rights?

I think you know the answer, even if it bothers you to admit it.

There is no racism in my statements, neither was there a strawman.

The only person with anything resembling a strawman is you, who are going by your feelings rather than facing well-documented facts.
How can you miss a simple point so completely. I say you are ignoring the racist events the happened to Epic and are using your separate argument as a straw man deflection. You have now introduced a third irrelevant topic of my feelings that have never entered into my side of the conversation as yet another deflection.

I will continue to not rebut your straw men due to them not being applicable. It's like trying to determine the validity of a touchdown using a baseball rule book.

But you continue right ahead.

...and racism continues.

It's super easy to emigrate to Africa. Don't forget to send a postcard.

Sigh.

I'm saying there are a lot of people that I live with and have lived with throughout my life, who are benefiting from the fact that their ancestors were brought over here as slaves.

Thanks to their ancestors being brought over here as slaves, they live in America instead of Africa.

The people I'm referring to do not work. Yet they get free healthcare, free taxi rides to medical appointments, free bus tokens, free bus cards, free Walmart gift cards, free cell phone with internet access, lots of opportunities for grants and financial assistance with college if they choose that route, free meals at the Dorothy day, and food stamps, and Government money.

They absolutely are benefiting from their ancestors being brought over here as slaves. How can you say any differently? I'm not going to deny what's obvious!

Is slavery extremely evil? Of course it is! Many people of European descent laid down their lives and shed their blood to end slavery.

But I'm still not going to deny that there's a lot of people, whose ancestors were slaves, who are currently benefiting from the changes in geography that resulted from slavery. That's obvious!

Dude you are all over the place with this post!

The people you are describing could perhaps be lazy individuals who are simply living off the system but that is cross cultural and most certainly not a cultural trait. Their behavior is no different than if I had a "sugar momma" giving me money and a place to stay and telling me not to work. Same thing different circumstance. The point is your post had nothing to do with the subject matter. This had nothing to do with the history of your grand-parents, nor the fools that are living off government assistance. This is about a celebrity that made an ill-advised comment on national television.

I was responding to a post on this thread. It was a thought-provoking post, and I presented you with facts, that you could produce nothing to refute.

Regarding Epic's experience with racism. I find it unfortunate that anyone should have to feel discrimination. People should be judged by their behavior, not judged by who their ancestors were. I do not support "white privilege", racism, slavery, segregation, or "white burden".

Um did you not see his reaction in my original post? He did try to back track or are you looking for him to say the words "I'm sorry?"

I'm going to give some time on this. Then I will conclude my own opinions, then.

Again, let me repeat... What he said was wrong but I want to see how this plays out concerning his mental illness before I say further.
