He must be promising to correct the terrible things done to the planet, that is, he must be promising to fix this problem.

He does.... that's why we're to pray, "Let Your Kingdom come, let Your Will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven." (Matthew 6:9-10)
Some promises for mankind on Earth: Isaiah 11:6-9; Isaiah 35:5-8; Psalms 37:10-11; Matthew 5:5; Revelation 21:3-4 ("tent of God is with mankind"). Many others.

Take care.

Hi,
I think you are late!:)
I didn't even remember what this post was about after so much time going by.

I believe the Bible, go by the Bible as much as possible. So, in what you posted, I agree wholeheartedly. You are welcome to start a conversation with me, if you should like. I don't mind when people don't agree, as long as we can show each other some respect.

I see every religion as based on human achievement...one has to earn their way to heaven except one...Christianity is based on God's grace...there is nothing humans can do to earn their way to heaven...it is by faith and faith alone. I would argue Christianity is not even a religion but it is a relationship with our Lord...Christ had very little patience for religious rules...remember when he said the Sabbath was made for man; man wasn't made for the Sabbath.

This question is assuming, or just proposing, that there is a possible one true group of beliefs, and that one of our existing religions/faiths/system of beliefs, in the states that they are, contain those truths. The only reason I answered 'no' to it was because, in my personal collection of beliefs that I have culminated thus far, I believe that whichever path of life makes one the most empathetic being one can be, that is the path one should strive for. The way I see it, there is no one objective truth when it comes to belief, and there are many truths to be found in all ways of life.
What do you people think?

Interesting!

You are close to what Jesus said, about ID’ing the one true religion. (Well, at least, his real followers. I believe his way was / is the truth.)

It would not necessarily be seen in what his followers taught (because there’s about 40,000 different denominations); but it would be ID’d by how they acted. — John 13:34-35.

So long.

Well, having looked into a number of Faiths, and also having read The Holy Qur'an; I sincerely believe that Islam is the Final And True Word of God; even though, of course, there is a lot of good in all the Faiths!

It goes to show God changes his mind. What was formerly forbidden is now permitted

God doesn't change laws because God changes His mind, He does it because mankind changes. What they need for one dispensation isn't what they need later.

Scripture says God repented of the evil he planned to do... Google it...he does change his mind

The local art co-op regularly holds "paint ins". A group gets together and chooses a subject and they all paint the same thing. It's for fun.
The resulting paintings are similar, of course, but they vary wildly. People have different styles, mediums, levels of skill, etc. Some people want to get the light just right, others like splashing color all around.
I think religions are like that. Similar in some ways, but varying wildly in others because humans are so different from each other. Everything can work out, as long as nobody mistakes the painting for the subject of the painting. Or religion for Truth.

I think each of us has to invent our own religion. When you hear something or read about something you understand it but it's not really yours to own. It's only when you write about something that you really learn what is you are talking about. Even further, when you try to teach it to others then you learn it at the highest level. Something happens inside your brain when you try to teach something to other people. If forces your brain to organize what you are saying more accurately and completely.

Exodus 32:14

And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
I don't believe in this primitive depiction of God. God doesn't change His mind. God was presented to the Hebrews then in such a way as they could relate to. God knew beforehand that the Hebrews would rebel because that is the actual nature of God.

Does anyone else here feel like they aren't smart enough to choose the true faith, were one to exist?

There are thousands of Religions that claim to be true. They can't all be. Maybe all of them have some truth and some falsehood?

My work in most United States and 20 countries did show me all the religious opinions that have power over the truth almost anywhere. I just believe how Jesus lived and taught. He never started any religious organization, so I will not join one. However, I have met many people, including my daughter, who were called by God to live and teach just as Jesus did his disciples. No organization is involved, no special building "church" is built, and no money is ever collected, but all needs are met with no conflict.

Organized religion is something which was created to allow the state to manufacture consent and justify coercion.

If a god/whatever does exist, then I do not have the capacity to identify them.
I know about the real God with lots of experience, but most of what people believe is totally made up to their own opinion.

I am not a Jew, but they believe in God more than most "Christians" do. Also from my work in 20 countries, it was Israel where I was best treated. Then in several Christian churches I have attended (Jesus never started any of them), I was better treated in the Jewish Temple than all the others, even though they know I believe in Jesus Christ. He was a Jew!
