I'm a chemical engineer in a plant that refines and modifies the oils that are released from pine trees when they are pulped for paper. I manage small improvement projects in the facility, assist and facilitate maintenance activities in whatever way I can, and work to find ways to improve process performance (efficiency, output, waste reduction). I really enjoy my work here.

Can you engineer a way to keep the paper plants from stinking?? I hate driving from Jacksonville to Savannah and smelling the paper production!!

Unfortunately, no. All I can say is that they're a lot better than they used to be (thanks to us engineers). The emissions are smellable at such an unbelievably low concentration in the air that it's practically impossible to prevent some smell from escaping.

Boo-h!
Im studying electrical engineering...
In the future I hope I can work as an elecrical designer in a multinational contractor...

Sometimes, I feel like working in power plants is interesting too..

I'm also studying engineering economics, and looking forward right now for having my masters in that field from Harvard university (my application is still in their office!)

I'm paid to poke and prod at people, keep them securely attached to multiple tubes and wires and keep a careful record of it all.

I'm a stay-at-home-mommy and military housewife. It is hard work, but very rewarding. Since I've been at home, we have had less income with a growing family, but we still have more money and have a higher quality of life because we live more simply and plan ahead.

My primary duties include:
- Child care (for a toddler and soon a newborn as well... yay!)
- Cooking (from scratch... yummy and healthy!)
- Cleaning & Laundry (yuck)
- Cutting hair (buzz buzz)
- Financial planning (squeeze those pennies 'til they scream)
- Handling assorted annoyances that spring up from being a military family (like moving cross country on short notice and keeping the family together through the inevitable times apart)

Other varying duties include:
- Household maintenance (I actually really enjoy this)
- Landscaping (fun!)
- Renovating/Decorating (I hate wallpaper)
- Gardening for food and spices (cute little strawberries)

I hope to also add mending and making clothing, bedding and home decor to the list after my gently used sewing machine is ready for pick up. :bounce

I have worked for the last 15 years in the computer field. I worked my way up from entry level tech working for large companies all the way up to management. Once I realized that the BS doesn't get any better the higher you get, I started my own company. We have been in business for almost 8 years now and going strong. I want to eventually sell out and move into a couple of online ventures I am working on.

I am a full time student. I worked for a software company in Utah for a little over 5 years and decided I wanted to do something a little more exciting and rewarding so I quit my job and went to law school. I will be done with my 2nd year of law school this spring.

I am torn about what I want to do when I graduate. It's either civil litigation for good money or FBI for terrible money. My heart wants to go to the FBI but my brain says litigation. My wife agrees with brain...

I wish I could play bass, or proffesional-wrestling for aliving. Lookin at a second band to play in, that is a house band, plays tons of local shows, has had thier music played on radio stations, and even has a couple small release albums. Luckily for me, they can't keep a bassist, and the frontman has to offer his pay plus the bassist pay just to get one for one night. Unfortunatly, allthough I have heard of thier accomplishments, and thier name, I don't know who the frontman is. My dad works with him (the same building at least), and has to track him down and get his number for me.

Full time student, part-time clergy. I am working on a Phd in New Testament. Only one more year of courses to go! Then, exams and dissertation.

In the fall I will begin my 11th year of college, 8th year of grad school, 3rd year of phd studies. :help: I put the "p" in professional student, but for a while I was earning a degree every two years...

hello, i'm a nursery assistant/playworker, and work on the babyfloor with children aged 4 months to 2 and half years old. I have nearly finished my NVQ2 Early Years Childcare Qualification. I love my job, especially being with the children, its fantastic watching them develop :dan:

I'm a software and database designer/developer (mostly I do DBs but I still code a fair amount of C++ and do some web development) working for a company producing VoIP solutions for business. I'd rather be a primary school teacher (I don't find this job all that thrilling) but this pays the bills a lot better than retraining would.

Wise choice. When I was in my 20th year of teaching (a while back) my nephew got his first full time job in computer programming at a higher salary than I was making at the time.
