That is why I am asking. Why should it take 3 clicks for me to log in?
The software already knows that I am Aupmanyav. Why should it ask me if it can show me other 'log ins'. I have just one.
It could be a one click affair. Click 'log in' and one is logged in.
Of course, there may be other technical reasons that I may not know of.
There's a 'stay logged in' option.

Is there something I've missed?

There are at least two things I think you're missing.

First, any customizations made to the forum interfere with future upgrades making the forum more difficult to maintain. If patches and upgrades wipe out these customizations and they need to be reapplied, then that adds considerable work on top patching and updating. So, it makes sense in some ways for us to get used to the default setup. In theory, keeping a streamlined config will facilitate keeping the forum software patched and up to date. This is a reason to get used to the forum as it is today. I doubt this is the reason that no new fixes have occured. But it's a good reason.

I was confident that the new threads widget would reappear. I'm not expecting it anymore. I've made do with "watching" all the debate forums and the Dirs and discussion forums I care about. That is working great. It only took a few minutes to do it, and I get notifications of any new thread created in those areas. Although I do miss the parody threads that would populate the new threads widget. That may be a thing of the past.

There's another thing you're missing, but, it's not your fault. You're a premium member, so, you wouldn't notice it. There's actually a rather large problem, imo.

Ever since the upgrade, there is no advertising. That means there is very little revenue coming in from the forum. Someone is paying for the server/servers to stay online and there are no advertising dollars supporting it. At some point, the owners will review how much cost and hassle they are putting in compared to how much money is coming out. Until there is advertising put back on the forum, I don't think any of us should be asking for anything. We should be happy that the forum is online and trying to avoid giving the owners any reason to pull the plug. ( after typing this all out, I have upgraded my membership to a recurring subscription hoping that gives the owners the most incentive if/when they are paying attention )

I find the lack of feedback telling. If it's such a big deal, TELL US. Typically with software, some customizations are fine and some are not. Modifying the code base is problematical but not ordinary configuration and customization. Changes to config.php, which XenForo uses, are not an issue. Ghosting the staff and users does not cut it in my book.

Requests were made and silence is the result. For example, one request was to update the smilies and reactions. With 5 minutes of browsing, I found that it's trivial to do and allowed for: Content - XenForo Manual

Smilie manager#

All the smilies currently available for use are listed within the smilie manager, along with their name and any text combinations that can be used to trigger them. For example, the Smile smilie can be triggered with any one of :), :) or :).

Individual smilies can be removed from the system using the delete icon, or they can be edited by clicking on their name. New smilies can be added by clicking the Add smilie button at the top of the page.

Reaction manager#

All currently-defined reactions are viewable through the reaction manager at Content > Reactions.

Each reaction is listed showing its graphic, title and associated reaction score.

Clicking a reaction or the Add reaction button will enter the reaction editor, where reactions can be defined and edited.

So why has that simple and OK change not been made?

I don't know. And I did the same thing looking for how to re-add the new threads widget. None of that matters. If the owners have not reinstituted the advertising, then they are probably reluctant to do anything, anything at all. They might be scared to change anything on the backend. And honestly, that's a pretty good policy if you don't know what you're doing. Very safe.

If i had to guess they are probably prioritizing the email thing. To get an RF account your email needs to be verified. Doing that verification manually would kill the forum on the long run. And if you dont have enough people coming in how can you get money from advertising?

Edit: i suspect if they fix the email thing then the advertising will likely be back

@Debater Slayer
Is there any update on the email issue? I don't want to come across as being annoying or anything i know you might not know much either but I figured I'd ask.

@Rival,

There's an issue with new member registrations?
Theyve been manually adding people cuz the email system is not working. Members don't get the email to be verified. @Debater Slayer wrote a comment somewhere about it saying that it could kill the forum I'll have to see if I can find it. The staff actually have to go through and manually verify people

Can we expect the return of the theme changer? I went to the default theme to overcome the invisible pale grey on white text. But can no longer get back to the RF theme.
Assuming the grey on white has been fixed.

Last I knew we were still having to manually verify, as before the update. You'd need to ask an Admin though, as they're the ones who deal with this :)
Ah. Never mind @dybmh. I'm unsure if its still a problem i assumed it was because the email system still isnt working. Let's wait to see what @Debater Slayer says to my comment asking where they at on the issue

@sun rise ,

It looks that there are bigger issues, and that is a good reason not to fuss over emojis and reactions. We need new members, not just for revenue but for everyone to keep the forum interesting and fun.

You are part of this too. You keep the forum interesting and fun, too. But it's your words and thoughts that matter most, not the frubals, likes, reactions, etc...

I've cut way back on posting because it's too much trouble to keep checking so many different places to see if there are other posts and replies.

Thanks for the tip, @dybmh. I'm highlighting this so more people will see it.

We were informed a few days ago that the ads were re-activated.

I understand. I've noticed that. "Watching" the forums that interest you is a good method, imo. Between that and the "watched threads" I think it's possible to keep up with the conversations that interest you.
