Some conservatives soil their pants over spooky Grammy performance.

A bunch of richies patting theirselves on the back for making mostly rubbish has never been my idea of prestigious.
That's a good point. I'm just saying that it used to be a highly regarded, classy affair. Now the "artists" show up dressed like trash and then act like trash while performing trashy songs. (Something weird was also going on with the backdrop during Mary J. Blige's performance, and it was giving me a really bad vibe and I almost turned it off because of it.) It wasn't always like that. It changed within the last 15 to 20 years, I've noticed. I only watch because I love art and culture, and want to keep it up with it. It's a very depressing state of affairs these days.

I don't watch the Grammys but that's not the point. There are plenty of artists out there that aren't going to alienate a large segment of the audience.
Sam Smith is the artist, and he's gay, so he was already alienated by the pearl clutching churchie types, which is what a lot of his songs are about.
Isn't it interesting how many conservatives demand a level of respect for their own views and values that they themselves have never nor would ever show for those of other's.

Sam has alienated a lot of his own audience now. He used to be a somewhat classy soul and R&B singer, akin to a male Adele. Now he's a bloated, depressed slob wearing pasties and simulating receiving golden showers in music videos. If you want people to respect you, maybe try not presenting yourself as the embodiment of the most negative caricature of gay men you can imagine. He's made a joke of himself. Oh, and that Unholy song celebrates adultery. It's about ****ing a married man behind his wife's back. There's no defending that.

Point taken.

They, and you, obviously weren't the target audience. You don't get to assume everything is made for you and must cater to your sensibilities. Change the channel and go enjoy something intended for you while others enjoy something intended for them.
Who is the target audience? Pretty sure young people don't even watch TV much. And us older people prefer class over trash.

"LOS ANGELES, CA — In a rare public statement, The Prince of Darkness has distanced himself from last night's Grammys performance by Sam Smith, which he denounced as "cringy" and "appalling."

"Listen, folks, I enjoy demonic sexual perversion just as much as the next guy, but this is just too much," said the frustrated Father of Lies. "I'm the god of this world! I appear as an angel of light! It's supposed to be sneaky and subtle! Has Hollywood lost its ability to be subtle? What on earth happened to this town?"

"And how am I supposed to corrupt the next generation when no one watches this garbage anymore?" he lamented. "At least I still have TikTok."

So it's one of those, "any publicity is good publicity." Things.
They should have had Will Smith slap somebody too, lol.

It's certainly helpful. Controversy is good publicity.

I know absolutely nothing about Sam Smith or his performance, but whether or not it was genuine it certainly got people talking.

Horrified Satan Distances Self From Grammys
"It was a pretty big year for predators
The marketplace was on a roll
And the land of opportunity
Spawned a whole new breed of men without souls
This year, notoriety got all confused with fame
And the devil is downhearted, baby
'Cause there's nothing left for him to claim

He said it's just like home
It's so low-down, I can't stand it
I guess my work around here has all been done

And the fruit is rotten
The serpent's eyes shine
As he wraps around the vine
In the Garden of Allah
(In the Garden of Allah)
(In the Garden of Allah)"

I got the Moderna vaccine, so I wasn't compelled to watch the Grammy's and be converted to Satanism.
I got the Pfizer vaccines, so I'm going to hell! :(

However, I'll see most here at RF there, so I'll definitely will not be bored.
