Jar Jar was just comic relief, cuz the first 2 sequels are kinda dull. But I think he could of been done better, but he was just so annoying. I just remember going to school and hearing people talk like him, I wanted to strangle them!!!!

I don't like how in the new DVD trilogy at the end of ROTJ enstead of having Sebastian Shaw as Anakin (when he's with yoda and Obi Wan) Lucas put Hayden Christensen there. I mean, I understand that Anakin died when he became Vader, and that was when he was younger, and is played by Hayden, but still. I kinda felt like it wasn't right, anyone else have the same feeling?

Replacing Sebastian with Hayden at the end of Jedi didn't sit well with me either. I understand the rationale, however I always looked at the original scene as an indication of Vader's redemption. By going back to a younger Anakin, his journey to the dark side followed by his choice of his own flesh and blood over the Sith is trivialized in my opinion.

As for Jar Jar :banghead3 Lucas said he wanted something to appeal to the younger fans. I was six years old when I saw A New Hope in the theater. The kids loved R2-D2, yet he was not an annoying bufoon. I think that George has been hiding out in Marin County swimming in cash for so long that he has lost any concept of who goes to see his movies. When he was hungry, he made two great and one not so bad movies with a cast of near nobodies (Sir Alec and James Earl Jones being the exceptions) Now that he is loaded and can do anything he wants, cast whoever he wants, he has accomplished actors and great special effects, but weak character development and stiff performances. Where is the direction? Who else here remembers when Lucas could actually direct a movie?

I'm not sure if it is Lucas' fault for the poor sequels. It was the actors fault. The plotline was fine, but the actors didn't move it along well. The best part of the prequels was the first few scenes in TPM. When Qui Gon and Obi Wan are waiting to see the trade Viceroy, and then they fight the destroyer droids. That was it, that was the best part. Liam Neeson and Ewan Mcgregor moved that along beautifully. But after that, it went down considerably. A director can do all he can and do a wonderful job, but if the actors suck, the movie will suck. I swear if we had different actors, the prequels would have rocked.

I'm not sure I agree with you there. The acting in the first ones wasn't all that good either. They were B movies, but they were good B movies. Jar Jar was a problem, but he couldn't be the thing that detracted as much. I think the problem was more holistic.

Personally, I believe the problem is Lucas himself. He's lost respect for the franchise, which is certainly evidenced by how willing he is to cut it up, add a few scenes, and release it as a new edition. If the person in charge, who invents it, begins to see it principally as a cash cow, then the whole enterprise will falter :(.

I am a pretty big Star Wars fan myself...OKay...I'm a freak. I have the Millenium Falcon and Slave Ship on a shelf in my room right next to my books. There have been a TON of books written about Star Wars, and the best part is that they all are part of one big series even though their are different actors. Nobody counteracts what everyone else is doing.
I hated Jar Jar Binks to the point where I wanted to go into the TV and choke him. I voted for the original series because I loved the acting and story line. I and II were okay, but not as good as the originals. Obi Wan and Qui Gon were awesome though, i nearly cried when Qui Gon died. I also can't wait for the original Vader back.

Isn't the next movie being released this summer? Or was it next winter?

(Boba Fett has always been my favorite though. He was so cool! He didn't really die in the Sarlacc, he pulled his blaster out and blasted the thing apart. His armor was what kept him from dieing. They have a trilogy all about him, as well as a short story in "Tales of the Bounty Hunters.")

Yeah, but when Anakin chose Luke over the Emperor, he conquered the Dark Side and returned to the true Force. Therefore, he SHOULD be shown in his old persona. Young Anakin was far gone when he threw Palpatine down that shaft.

Lucas once said that the new releases of the old trilogy were they way his vision really went, but the technology kept him from making it that way. I think that since most people tend to think his changes aren't as good, he should just let it be. But when has majority rule ever really meant anything in Hollywood? It's his movie -- he should be allowed to tinker with it in any way that he wants. If he wants to make Chewie into a polka-dotted bear, he has every right to do it. I just don't think he should expect many people to be happy about it or pay to go see it, rent it, or buy it.

Not for the same reason. It was originally created like that, and the replacements seem like slicing and dicing the film. Anakin needed to show as human, because he'd been redeemed, but I don't like Lucas' replacement of the original actor.

I dunno. Young anakin was far gone, but when he returned to the good side, he didn't revert back into hayden's body. He died an old man, and should therefore be perceived as an old man. I believe anakin should be shown as Sebastian Shaw, because that is how he died. Anakin turned into Vader, and then back into Anakin. He didn't die as Vader, we know that because Luke took his helmet off. I think the original is how it should be. I also understand that alot of the new version is how Lucas really wanted it, but I don't think he put hayden in there for that reason. I think he did that to make it cool. I dunno, it just didn't feel right.

Very true. Don't mess with the original. Especially when it has such a following.

Has anyone been to the Star Wars site to see any spoilers? I'm kinda interested in how much of the movie Anakin will be Vader (not in the suit, but turned to the Dark Side).

I think I must have fallen asleep near the end of Jedi, cause I totally missed that! I watched them all in one day when I bought the dvds, and I was pretty sleepy by the time I got to the end...will have to check it out. Don't think it should have been done though...by all means, fix the special effects, but don't mess with the characters. :149:

I don't even like fixing the effects :).

IIRC, they also changed the Emperor in ESB.

Oooo... I'd love that, if only I could play chess. Are the hobbits represented? Err... I should say, all the hobbits? I'm pretty sure Frodo would be, but I'm a fan of all of 'em.
