Ok, it's time. This has been sitting for far too long. It is a subject that turns friends into foes and has split communities and families apart.......

Which is better: Star Wars or Star Trek.

No kid gloves here. Tonight we dine in hell!

Star Trek. Both are good, but Star Wars is a little to polarized for me (Cops and robbers, good and evil, etc.) Star Trek takes an alien race, applies a human quality amplified many times over (Vulcans = Logic, Andorians = Passion, Ferengi = Capitalism, Klingons = Samurai) to analyze it. I always love watching both though, but I have to go with Trek.

Gene Roddenberry is also an atheist, I suppose that subtly influenced my decision :)

Definitely Star Wars. They have truffles.
Truffles don't even start to compare to Tribbles.

That being said, as in any politico-cultural debate it is always best to reduce complex topics to mere sound bites.

To boldly go where no man has gone before...

Do, or not do. There is no try.

It's life Jim, but not as we know it.

Music from the Bar scene.

Spock. This child is about to wipe out every living thing on Earth. Now, what do you suggest we do....spank it?

I don't like you either. You just watch yourself. We're wanted men. I have the death sentence on twelve systems.

In any case, were I to invoke logic, logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

I don't know who you are or where you've come from, but from now on you'll do as I say, okay?

Jim, you don't go around asking the Almighty for his I.D.!

Use the force, Luke

The question may merely come down to this: Which came first, the Trekkie or the Woogie?

When children misbehave in the land of Star Wars, they are treated to lightsaber therapy.

That's an easy question to resolve. ;)

SW...such latecomers!

Star Wars is based on the epic Hero stories of old. It is almost as old as storytelling itself.

Plus, as everyone knows, it happened a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away).

How quickly we forget the OPENING scene...

Star Trek: Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: To explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before. (Set in the 23rd century)

Star Wars: Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away... Upbeat rendition of the Star Wars Theme Here- Enjoy!!! :D

It appears that their copyrights might not indicate which came first after all! :D

Um...how did Star Wars come first? It didn't hit theaters until 1977. Star Trek was on TV in 1966.
Star Wars depicts events that happened "a long time ago." Star Trek depicts events in the 23rd century. It hasn't even happened yet!

Star Wars is history. Star Trek is prophecy. You can't be more a latecomer than to be prophecy.:slap:

It shouldn't take more than 12 parsecs to make that run... but we expect as much from a Trekkie! :D
