Just so; so it must be the concept of "trust" that is affecting you in bigotry. It's the only option.
For me, It's not about distrusting god. It's about distrusting the people that claim there is a god. Because in my opinion, there is no god to distrust. It's like saying that you "distrust" the tooth fairy just because you don't believe in it's existence. How unreasonable does that sound? Very.

Regardless of the validity or lack thereof concerning the 'poll' offered, from MY personal experience, I have found that only about ONE in TEN of those that I have encountered that 'claim' to be 'Christian' are able to honestly SAY that they have READ the Bible. They will ALL say that they have read IN IT, but NOT in it's entirety.

When the President of the country is LAUDED for saying that he HAS read the Bible, it simply goes to SHOW that MOST that claim Christianity do NOT follow their religion enough to even READ the 'instruction book'.
