Susan Boyle - Britain's Got Talent (AND HOW!)

Someone on a radio comedy show I sometimes listen to said something like, "And Susan Boyle shocks audiences world wide as she proves that ugly people can sing".

I think it's sad that we're all so surprised about her. I felt bad that I was shocked when I saw it. It just goes to show how narrow and, to a large extent, hurtful, our view of others is. It shows a lot of us judge people by the way they look... for shame!

*Note I'm equally as guilty*

She is good but I liked Paul Potts better from the previous season. Check him out if you haven't already

Wow that was fantastic too. I still like Susan better, but he is wonderful too. I guess maybe I just liked her choice of song better. How wonderful.

Someone posted earlier about how we judge people be their looks. You are right, unfortunately we do. That's why I just love it when Susan's and Paul's come along and wake us up and change our awareness. We need these wake up calls!

I don't know. I've heard other people say that, too. It didn't occur to me until someone mentioned it. To me, their reaction was so spontaneous and positive that that's all I really saw. Also, I guess that the venue itself, being an audition and all, was sort of casual and anything goes. I kind of feel like the audience can be excused for being so blatantly biased against an "ugly" person (since the idea that only beautiful people are talented is so drilled into our heads), but the fact that the judges were actually "surprised" kind of offended me. They should have known not to be surprised.

Thats the British for you....(and I can say that I am British!)

She has got an amazing voice! What irritates me is that they dont seem to learn from previous years...Paul Potts was the same. When he came onto stage, everyone laughed thinking "he is going to be awful" yet he was amazing and is now a world phenemonen (cant spell).

Cool! Thank you! I watched the YouTube video of her performance singing "Memory." I'm SO rooting for her!

I saw this on the sky news website today while at work: Britain's Got Talent YouTube Star Susan Boyle Gets Police Talking To After London Hotel Outburst | UK News | Sky News

Its such a shame as following this Susan has been very upset about these claims and has been thinking about quitting the show. Heres what bbc news says about it, but seemingly there is a blog somewhere by Piers Morgan saying she was thinking about quitting which I dont know where to look: BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Morgan pleads 'back off' Boyle

Enlighten, can you enlighten me? What's the latest? She's not really going to quit is she? I keep trying to find accurate information online, but I'm not having much luck. When are the finals? I know they won't be shown in the U.S., but I want to go online and see them as soon as possible after the fact.

I've had a look about at all the UK news and found this so thankfully it looks like she's going ahead with the final tonight. So fingers crossed for her, I'll try to come online straight after the final to let you know how she does.

The best act on the night won in the end. Susan was phenomenal but Diversity, the eventual winners, were on absolute fire. They genuinely were the best act.

I know, she got to second place though, she seemed happy enough with that.
Well, if it's anything like "American Idol," winning second place can actually have its advantages. The first place winner has so many restrictions placed on him, at least for the first year, that he is not as free to pursue opportunities that many arise. At least Susan will now be able to have a singing career, which is all she really wanted in the first place.

To be honest, I actually think she looked relieved not to win, you'll see what I mean when you watch it, I think it was too much for her. I'll try to find tonights show to post for you.
