Tariffs?

Response from the President of Mexico:

"Seventy percent of the illegal weapons seized from criminals in Mexico come from your country. We do not produce these weapons, nor do we consume synthetic drugs. Tragically, it is in our country that lives are lost to the violence resulting from meeting the drug demand in yours."

It's called risk assessment and impact planning. Something to modern day reactionary Democrats simply forget to do anymore.

My suggestion is to leave it to the professionals and Trump is a professional on these matters.
I'm a professional in this matter, too. And you're in a lot of financial trouble. You still don't know what tariffs are and who pays for them.

Plenty of countries use them to their benefit. If they were that bad, no country would use them. Maybe you should know how they work in that way.

Given you have been quite open about your financial status, are you not worried about the massive inflation coming our way?
Of course. Assuming that particular Nostradamus prediction comes true.

But like anyone else , you just have to adapt to the conditions and circumstances.

Just remember, a tariff is a sales tax. You will be paying extra, after complaining about the "high cost of living".
It would give great incentive to start producing domestically instead of relying on foreign imports. All I see is a return of manufacturing back to the States like it used to be when America was doing pretty good on that front.

Why does Donald think that they will "pay a very big price!"?

Certainly, we the consumers are the only ones who will be paying for anything, no?
No, actually not. There are 192 countries in the world selling things. If the price of something coming from Mexico or Canada is increased due to a 25% tariff that doesn't mean anyone has to pay more. They get to choose. They could seek a lower cost alternative or not buy at the higher price. But Canada and Mexico lose market share in the United States which is the largest market in the world.

Or they could do a better job with their policing their sides of the borders.

Spoken like a child touching a hot stove for the seventh time.
No actually it's quite adult when it comes to talking about things that haven't happened yet as just that. Something that hasn't happened.

I think children oftentimes believe in things that are not actually happening, and act like that it has actually happened.

I would say you would be the one actually needing the burn salve here.

Maybe it will happen. Who knows? Time will tell, as well as other issues. Since Republicans control the House and the Senate, we'll see what happens.

It took two generations to strip away manufacturing from the US. It will take two generations to bring it back. All the while, your beloved corporations will resist. Why would they want to lose profits and pay more for all that labor? Did you miss the increased tax cuts for them? You didn't see it coming.

You don't get it. These tariffs are only going to effect you, only people like you.

Kind of like driving through red lights. Who knows if you will have a crash. Time will tell.

Smart people know not to make foolish and risky decisions.

Actually I'm looking forward to the rise of manufacturing back in the US.

As they say, sometimes a listing ship can right itself. Redeveloping a strong domestic manufacturing base can fix a lot of issues.

Some things are beyond my control and I am OK with that.
