It was poetic licence. :)

That's where these arguments are failing... they're hyperbole and melodrama.

Should have stuck with the Black Death.

Possibly, but both examples you used are bacterial infections, which so far are relatively easy to treat with antibiotics. Viral diseases, not so much. Antibiotics are useless.

Ok, I'll edit my post....I didn't know I got assessed for pathological accuracy.

We go to restaurants, we take our masks off at the table and we put them back on when we leave. Onerous it is not. Especially when compared to the wearing of full PPE by hospital staff working long shifts.
Which is stupid. Does the virus not infect sitting people? But most people aren't wearing masks here at all, so it's not universal. To believe that piece of cloth is stopping it is niave, anyway.

How is it stupid? You are going to be exposed anyway. It's inevitable, unless you become a hermit. I never feared the flu either, but I had it when younger enough to develop some immunity apparently.
The flu and covid are not comparable in terms of overrunning health services. But carry on, you'll never learn.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Au contraire, all I require is a list of the freedoms you think have been taken away.
That has proved to be an impossible mission, apparently.
I'm not worried. There's enough evidence that others can see and understand fine, for which unfortunately, your apparent handicap prevents you from noticing what's going on from just about every news agency that is reporting those violations of freedom all over the net.

One central teaching of the major religions at the least we should "do no harm" to innocent others. Thus, if I don't take simple basic precautions to help others not get a disease that kills am I really doing what they teach? Not that I can see.

Therefore, why is it that so many in the "religious right" don't seem to care if they protect others, or even themselves, from harm? It seems that not only are they not "right", but one also has to question whether they're even "religious" to begin with.

Many of them see a former political person ( I can not even say his name ) as God and blindly follow whatever he said.

There's plenty of Chinese and arguably Australian footage all over the place for you to look at when governments exceed reasonable force and commit grevious violations on people's freedoms in the name of safety and security.

I figured you wouldn't be so handicapped that you need help in seeing such examples.

But here you go....

Again Australian here. Now I’ll freely admit that some of the statutes for the southern states here were quite harsh for a while. And even I think some were too harsh. But these same states also had like hundreds if not thousands of cases every single day for months on end. (Please bear in mind our population isn’t as high as yours. So those numbers were quite alarming for us.)
It was sheer desperation of the government that such mandates were made in the first place. And they were done so only under severe duress. Basically they were the “last resort” caliber levels of measures. No one wanted any of them. Once these states reached their vaccination goals, such restrictions were largely lifted without incident. The news report you reference is from 4 months ago when Sydney was suffering mass hospitalisations and spikes in COVID.
Also flying a kite in what I can only assume is a locked down park during a literal world wide pandemic (which my state also did and no one cried about it) is the height of selfish irresponsibility. Okay that was a bit dramatic. But still who the hell does that?

I still have to check into all the shops I go to and I’m double vaxxed. It’s annoying but you don’t see me whinging about it. Because I’m an adult who understands my social responsibilities, if I’m being frank. Not aiming that to anyone here. I’m just being blunt

Also I’d like to know if I came into contact with someone COVID positive which is what the check ins are for. And before anyone whines about the government checking up on us. May I remind you all of the literal 24/7 CCTV Surveillance footage all governments have? Not to mention the rights stripped away since 9/11 happened? I grew up in a post 9/11 world where my freedoms were stripped from the getgo, literally because of the US government. So you guys have no real foot to stand on, where I’m sitting

By all means rake our politicians over the coals. I have no love for them. Indeed I feel disgusted that I was forced to defend the yobbos.
But kindly don’t misrepresent my country

It's why I included "arguably" in my post in regards to Australia. I get mixed signals from Oz.

Some say it's way overblown and nothing is a real concern, and others are saying it's a madhouse.

I'm guessing it's where you live rather than the whole countryside that determines how bad or good things are.

I can't argue with someone who actually lives there so I'm taking it provisionally on my end.
