Texas legislature is trying to violate the First Amendment:

That's right, trying to give Florida Man a run for his money the Texas State legislature tries to show that they are even more idiotic. They passed a bill ordering the posting of the Ten Commandments in public schools. How will non-Abrahamic religions respond?

I'm sure all the people who freaked out about "forced speech" when it was trans kids' pronouns will also condemn this forced speech.

Any minute now...

The Satanic Bible Ten Commandments, I hope.
I would think that if one was a member of the Abrahamic religions one would want what was actually on the tablets. Not Ten Commandments that were made up on the spot:

14 Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

15 “Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land; for when they prostitute themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you and you will eat their sacrifices. 16 And when you choose some of their daughters as wives for your sons and those daughters prostitute themselves to their gods, they will lead your sons to do the same.

17 “Do not make any idols.

18 “Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread. For seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you came out of Egypt.

19 “The first offspring of every womb belongs to me, including all the firstborn males of your livestock, whether from herd or flock. 20 Redeem the firstborn donkey with a lamb, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck. Redeem all your firstborn sons.

“No one is to appear before me empty-handed.

21 “Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.

22 “Celebrate the Festival of Weeks with the firstfruits of the wheat harvest, and the Festival of Ingathering at the turn of the year.[b] 23 Three times a year all your men are to appear before the Sovereign Lord, the God of Israel. 24 I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your territory, and no one will covet your land when you go up three times each year to appear before the Lord your God.

25 “Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast, and do not let any of the sacrifice from the Passover Festival remain until morning.

26 “Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the Lord your God.

“Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.”

Christians always (IMO) believe their personal interpretation
of the Bible is the only true one. So we get an abridged
version of a translation of a translation of a collection of
some books, but not all. The possible combinations
of belief are numerous indeed. Thus we have an
official Texas Christianity.

That would be a creative and informative way of malicious compliance.

I also think it would be OK to post other rules of conduct besides the 10 Commandments including this:

Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.
Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.
No animal shall wear clothes.
No animal shall sleep in a bed.
No animal shall drink alcohol.
No animal shall kill any other animal.
All animals are equal.

Eleven Satanic Rules

Nine Satanic Sins

Hellenismos, BTW
"Why exactly are there 10? You simply do not need ten. The list of ten commandments was artificially and deliberately inflated to get it up to ten. ... why did they pick 10? Why not 9 or 11? I'll tell you why- because 10 sound official. Ten sounds important! ... So having ten commandments was really a marketing decision!

Two (Commandments) is all you need, folks. Moses could have carried them down the hill in his pocket. And if we had a list like that, I wouldn't mind that brilliant judge in Alabama (Texas) displaying it prominently in the courthouse wall (schools)... As long he included one additional commandment: THOU SHALT KEEP THY RELIGION TO THYSELF!" - George Carlin

In my opinion it is a very smart thing.
Christian culture is essential to understand the history of the US.

We've been trying to recover from Christian
culture, & we're making progress at elimniating
its worst features, eg, Manifest Destiny, slavery,
theocracy, compulsory prayer, blue laws.
There's so much more work to do.

I wonder how many people are even aware of....

Cancel Culture entails that children won't study the Pilgrim Fathers at school, right?
I think that history is essential to understand what we are.
