I've been to the "third world", and I think you are mistaken. A huge majority of rapists stick to their own ethnicity, and most victims are raped by their own acquaintances, husbands or boyfriends. In this case, the rapist was the woman's boss. Hardly an example of swarthy, impoverished foreigners going criminally insane for a taste of rich white meat. Plus, the UAE is only "the third world" for the people who build it. The Arabs who own it are ridiculously rich.

That is unfair towards third world countries. I know a female theatre director who frequently travels to such places, and she often enjoys herself while at these places. Their is simply no evidence to suggest that all third world countries are dangerous for white women. And I would hardly call the UAE third world, as it is a very rich and increasingly powerful business nation. I would however say it's really not that good of an idea for anyone, male or female, to travel there unless you are very aware of local laws, and that many things you should be able to freely do will get you arrested.
I really doubt that 100% of rapes were done by immigrants, because most rapes are between acquaintances. And what does multiculturalism have to do with anything? Just because some people want to live a box that is their own culture doesn't mean that embracing the cultures of others is a bad thing. You can stick to your culture (which is already pretty saturated with other cultures), and I will embrace the blues, Thai food, Japanese animation, and other things from other cultures that I enjoy. If anything, it is a lack of exposure to other groups and other cultures that causes ethnocentrism, racism, and some crime.

Come to Delhi. Tourists aren't really that safe in that city. It amazes me that tourists keep travelling to Delhi in India, but not rape-free states such as Gujarat where there is a lot of development going on. Gujarat is one of the most successful states in India with a rich history and tons of tourist destinations, yet to European and American tourists, it is strictly unheard of...

A justice system approaching the matter like this must discourage many victims from reporting rape incidents.
I don't think i'd be out of line when i say that you should either come up with a source supporting this or in the future keep such garbage to yourself.

It's "notorious" because the rapes at least get reported and make it to the news in India........rapes in countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan and even the Congo rarely make it to the news in the West......the witnesses could care less nor do they give two figs about rapes that occur.....yet, I don't hear members in these forums talking about that now, do I? Why don't they talk about it, even when the UN has a list of countries that are the most unsafe for women which clearly state the three mentioned as being the worst for women to travel to? Afghanistan has many secluded areas, and isn't as developed as India, so it's harder for word to get around. The reason why the India gang rape on the bus made national headlines was because the men were getting off free, and the they wanted the girl to marry one of the rapists.
