The Apocalypse

I answered your question.
And as for the pole shift and the micro nova you have obviously not been paying attention.
The time has come for both.

The destruction of existence will be swift. No one will know it even happened. A new earth will begin though.

Life runs in cycles.
Everything does.
Large ones and small ones.

Yes! That's exactly what I was thinking when reading your posts.

The great revealing is a time in human history that comes around maybe every 24,000 years it seems.

Could be....

This is a time when humanity is on the brink of destroying itself.

Nahhhhh. It's just the pendulum at one side of the cycle. Ever been on those great big viking ship rides at the amusement park. You can see a lot from up there. If you're not screaming you're face off.:oops::D

No one's going to be destroyed we're just coming to a halt before starting the descent back towards a version of normal.

It is also a time when we can see that that is what we are doing.
It is coming to a point of being a crisis and it is getting our attention.
We are beginning to see our own behavior as a species is deeply flawed.

Yes! we agree on almost everything!

Technology has enabled us to get to this point but we are losing control of our creation.
AI has the potential to turn life into a utopia or a hell.
It seems to me without even going into the antichrist idea and the new religion that we are heading for a crisis of biblical proportions.

I probably should have read this thread before the AI thread...

Anyway, I agree with what you're saying. Although, hopefully I made my point effectively in the other thread. There's not just 1 AI. They are dangerous. But... humans are pretty smart, resourceful, and we would have our own AI, to do battle with any other AI that that becomes malicious.

Ya know those "deep fakes" people are worried about for haking the media and inserting fake news? AI could be trained to detect those.

Did I mention that there is a pole shift happening and the possibility of a micro nova within the next ten years?

Where I live we're over due for an earthquake which could completely change the lives of, gosh, just about everyone. We need to be prepared for weeks of no water, fuel, or electricity. And if we lose the bridges, like all of them like it's predicted, many people could be cut off from resupply, everything would need to come the long way through the mountains for a looooooong time. Gas stations, grocery stores, could be empty. And that's not taking into account the coastal towns that will be... gone. Under water never to return.

So, yeah, there's scary stuff that could happen, but, that's always how it is. There's always something devastating on the horizon.

Perhaps the fact that Revelation is sometimes called, either, the Revelation to John and, sometimes, the Apocalypse of Job, is a hint.
Are we here to hide things from each other?
I am interested in learning.
I have no interest in playing games.

Perhaps you can tell us what you are hinting at?

Is this the time of the great revealing?
The earth and humanity both are in a state of crisis.

I am not a Christian but I can read the writing on the subway walls.
Something big is happening.

I would like to hear the thoughts of others on this subject.
We are in the 6th mass extinction and this one has the potential to reduce humanity to numbers not seen since man emigrated out of the African Savannah. If you want to call that an apocalypse that's fine. But don't call it "The Apocalypse" as in the Catholic Bible becase it is not driven by any God force. It is purely of natural and man-made causes.

The poles have shifted many many times over the history of the Earth. They do not appear to cause mass extinctions. The biggest bother with them may be that we will have to turn our maps upside down.

And as to micro novas I have never heard of them until now. a quick Google search and they do not appear to be a threat at all. They seem to occur in stars that are white dwarfs with very strong magnetic fields. The Sun has a magnetic field but I have never heard it claimed that it was very strong compared to other stars. And since these were only confirmed last year what makes you think that we are overdue?

You may be reading clickbait sources.

EDIT: So cool! In the article that picture flashes and it does in the thumbnail too.

If humans had existed 65-66 million years ago I might agree, or perhaps at other similar events, or even as to living in certain countries during WWII as my parents did, but what is occurring now is rather puny in comparison. Mostly, what Earth is experiencing is due to human successes - as to population growth - without the necessary responsibility being shown - by us as individuals and as to the leaders we choose (or don't choose). AI is still an unknown.

Human success is biodiversity’s greatest threat. I wouldn’t call that puny, even from the comfort of my safe European home.

Oddly enough the OP did not mention that. He specifically named two non-problems, And yes, I agree that AGW is going to be a huge problem. Luckily I am old so it does not really count:tongueout::tonguewink:

The OP said that “the earth and humanity are both in a state of crisis.” Hard to argue with that basic premise, I’d have thought. Though much of humanity, including most of the world’s leaders, do seem oblivious.

I am old too, but I have children, and hopefully one day, grandchildren. My friends and neighbours have children and grandchildren. And in any case, I am not comfortable being part of the generation that watched while the world burned.

Ooooh, you really know how to hurt.

Sorry man. I can be a bit acerbic sometimes. If it’s any consolation, I live on the same cluster of privileged islands you do.

Meanwhile, the world is burning, and our leaders are playing Nero so far as I can see.

No worries. :D

I tend to agree about the lack of proper leadership shown by so many, and I don't know how things will change, or as to getting people to understand why we must all change our behaviours - and especially those in the wealthier countries.
