The Awesome Toy you never had..

Everybody has it's moments of jalousy.
And everybody had a toy they couldn't have when they were young. (If you didn't consider yourself a spoiled brat :p)

What was yours?
The Transformers were a little ahead of my time. Not that I didn't think they were cool but as I grew older, I could have easily have purchased them for myself. Micronauts (by Mego) were the big thing when I was younger. It was a brilliant marketing concept because the Micronauts were not just about collecting characters but purchasing enough accessories to build and realize the Micronaut's world. I don't remember if I asked the parents for these toys but I do remember visiting and playing with a friend who had most of them. Years later I would secure a Japanese version of Acroyear.

I had Micronauts. They were awesome. The ship that I had could fire little tiny plastic missiles perfectly designed for a seven year-old to choke on. Ah, the days before safety standards....

My older brother had Micronauts and collected the comics also. They fascinated me as a kid. I think it's time for the 80s retro craze to resurrect them as a film or animated series.

Amen. I have bought and played about 3 PS3 games since I purchased it but I am glad I bought my PS3 when I did. I bought the 60gb hardrive that was backward compatible to the PS2 and PS games. I heard that Sony discontinued these features in future models.

I will give you more salt if you want to rub it into my wounds, Cardero.

They weren’t just toys, there was a substantial philosophy, creed and culture behind these creations. Leave it to Stan Lee to give Bill Mantlo the green light to flesh out the origins and fit them nicely into the Marvel universe…..

Many RF members probably wouldn’t be astonished to know that I still retain all the NM issues of the first Marvel comic series, the mini series and all of the Micronauts special guest appearances (they even paired them up with the X-Men). I especially enjoy the issues that were penciled by Michael Golden and Pat Broderick.

Who knows, maybe Micronauts will make a comeback.

Hey, as for going next gen, if you are going to do it, get a xbox360. Most games that come out for the ps3 come out for it, and it has a bunch of really good games. Plus it is cheaper.

On the other hand, you only pay a few hundred dollars more for a PS3, and you get a blu-ray DVD player in the mix, too.

Is this an example of pinching pennies and losing dollars?

Yeah, I went for PS3 over xbox because of blu-ray. My dad is jealous because he bought one of the first wave of blu ray players which take about 5 minutes to load a film, whereas the ps3 doesn't have that issue.

well, that is only if u are interested in blueray, and even then i won't concede your point, cause i don't have exact numbers to figure this all out

I am not interested in Blu-Ray at this present point in time, (there are a couple of movies I would love to watch in hi-def, though) but it's thinking ahead for the future.

But even if the PS3 didn't have the blu-ray, (it would be a lot cheaper, I would think, but forget that for a moment) the amount of peripherals that I would have to buy for the X360 makes the prices about the same - you have to buy a hard-drive to play most 360 games - and the reliability issues with the 360 are not overly enticing for me, either.

I wouldn't be so confident about the PS3. Mine has crashed 3 times playing fallout 3. It made me want to cry.

But I don't play such taxing games as Fallout 3. If I brought a PS3, I would be playing games like "Disgaea 3", "Final Fantasy XIII" and quite a few other RPG's.

Oh, I might play Gran Turismo 5 when that comes out. I suppose that would be a taxing game for a console.

I had better not keep talking about the PS3, otherwise I will probably go out and buy one next week.

don't do it, the 360 is the bomb. you can buy the version with a hardrive installed for 300 right now. that's not a bad deal. don't know about the economics of it, but i bet all three of those games can be played on the 360.

All games I mentioned are PS3 exclusives, and there are a few more that I did not mention that only get on the PS3, too.

Although there are some games on all of the systems that I would enjoy playing should I buy that console, and I am sure that the shared games would be just as good on the 360 as the PS3, the PS3 has my favourite exclusives that I enjoy.
