Technically the serpent didn't lie to Eve.

1. Eve didn't die by eating the fruit. Nowhere is her death recorded. We do not know when she died.

2. Satan was right that by eating the fruit, Eve would be like God, knowing good and evil. Even God agreed, which is why he stopped them from eating from the tree of life.

God punished Satan for revealing the truth.

So says the devils advocate... :smilingimp:

A mature male example of the species modern Homo sapiens sapiens, a variety of animal.

What do you see?
it's a vague image.....at this moment in time

I am certain the human form would be an illusion
as we attempt to walk among the angelic

and I doubt I would take THEIR form immediately after the last breath

it might take a while......and some retraining

to shed this mortal coil would take only minutes
to shed the humanity
would take a bit longer

Why would you want to shed your humanity? It's where the love, the bonding, the belonging, the sense of purpose, all the meaning, come from. And if we believe the bible, God had a lot, and Jesus a few pretty cranky moments, and anger and aggro are parts of our humanity too.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to volunteer for blandout.

Man is an animal

Perhaps they were referring to conduct sir. Anyone who is conscious of their surrounding is capable of seeing the distinction of man from the animal creation.

I see no glory in being human

God and heaven are not seeking your resemblance to Mankind

They are seeking your resemblance to heaven

What is the who, what, and why behind the Serpent according to Judaism, anyways?
AFAIK there isn't an official answer to these questions. One theory is that the serpent desired Eve physically. But that doesn't make sense to me based on the story. How would getting Eve to eat the fruit help the serpent in this regard?

not helping the serpent
the serpent was trying to undo the development of Man

I say the serepent had deceived himself......thinking his ploy might work

I suspect the garden event would have worked.....with or without the distraction

would have taken longer......

Animal. And what of it? Why is this such a problem for you? Just admit it - you think yourself as "so much more." You realize what that is right? I wonder if you might be able to tell me?

By that reasoning, we’re 36% bananas! And 44% fruit flies!

Only 36% bananas? I have met some people I think are close to 100% bananas... ;)

Is it only the religious who are bothered about our past, and present? We should all rejoice in having so many relatives, even if far removed, and we would be better as a species if we did so.

Your family reunions must be a lot tamer than most. I can respect one not wanting more relatives....

We can't choose any of them, and my closest ones have not talked to me for about two decades. Their problem. :D

I haven't answered the thread about what we don't like about various religions, but this aspect - the distancing of humans from other life - is one of the things I hate about those religions which insist on such. And it is just nonsense, to anyone who has had even a cursory look at how our DNA is so intermeshed with other life, and with other species of hominids - Neanderthals and Denisovans especially.

Well even the book of Ecclesiastes claims that there is not much really that separates us from the beasts. The thing really is that God breathed on Adam the breath of life ... so we have some link to divinity. But we still live and die like animals on earth.

I know this, not from looking in the mirror
But from "looking within"

We are animals. We're apes, primates. This is clear from science. We're very much like other apes, chimps especially, with our behavior. Take it up with your deity if you have such a problem with it.

Hmmm... Do you think less of those who think of themselves as animals?
