See, the thing is, you need to define BOTH politics AND religion, then explain how they differ.
Thus far all you have done is start to define politics.

Religion doesn't search for truth. It excepts that truth exists by faith and therefore finds it foolish to go searching for something that isn't missing. Truth will define itself to you if you will humble yourself to it.To go searching for it is to deny it and therefore it will be missing for you and need to be found.
It is like love and reveals itself when you quit searching. The ultimate truth is love as God is love.
Politics on the otherhand is logic trying to define truth. Logic argues in circles and comes to the conclusion that truth does not exist.It doesn't change the fact of truth existing but only the limited conclusions that logic can come to. Just like reality is not wrought out of mind, neither is the truth.

Most religions claim to already have/know the truth.
Are you meaning that you have to have faith that truth even exists at all, that you have to have faith that your faith is the truth, or both?

Not to deny truth but to deny you are in it and that it is missing for who searches for something that is not lost?
I will try to simplify this since I know you see everything through logic.
Truth is found through our fight and flight response and awareness and not by our logic.
Logic can only rationalize whats in our awareness and nothing more.
Truth is the amount of reality our awareness opens up to and is opened by faith.
The more you can open your awareness to reality the more truth is revealed.
Science slowly changes as awareness changes.
Flight by machines heavier than air is unpractical and insignificant, if not utterly impossible. - Simon Newcomb - The Wright Brothers flew at Kittyhawk 18 months later.
It is those scientists with the ability to open their awareness and be intuitive who pave the way for science.The rest must open their awareness after the facts have been proven and line up with the truth. The logic and rationality usually lines up after the fact but when it wasn't in the awareness it didn't seem very logical that some kind of machine could fly.
And the conclusion of politics is usually war,greed, power, not love.

strange gift that... hours of agony on the cross, seems like a bag of guilt, rather than liberation. my God would not teach that there is something inherently flawed in his people and that they need a grotesque scene on the cross in order to redeem them of their short comings.
