I'm not hugely into black or death any more....

I still love Snorre Ruch's Thorns though... that perhaps would be the epitome of everythign I like in the genre

I do love obituary's World demise....
at the gates were cool
Emperor of course had moments, I do like Zyklon...
Darkthrone had some moments
Earlier Satyricon also...

I do love Khanate, but its not really death or black....
I saw Khanate in NY City...it really was the loudest nastiest concert I have ever seen

I saw sunn recently they had Attila from Mayhem as lead "singer",,,,,
scary scary Pagan costume... reminded me so much of some pagan experiences I had when I was walking in the underworld....

I also know all the members of an up and coming band "Ethereal Process"

Attila always seems to wear weird costumes. I saw Mayhem recently, and he wore a mock German Nazi suit, but instead of the swastika armband it was an armband with the Mayhem logo in it. It was a great show though. Seeing the band who started the whole second wave... The band of legend obscured by violence and Satanism... It is almost surreal in a way. For me at least. It was awe inspiring, almost like seeing actual gods.

I really don't care for death metal anymore, can't stand Cannibal Corpse.

Satanic/Black Metal i've loved since I was 14-years old with old bands like Slayer, Mercyful Fate, Bathory, and Venom. My favorite bands now are Dark Funeral, Dimmu Borgir, (old) Emperor, some Behemoth, (old) Cradle of Filth. Nile is a good band. Oh, and my personal favorite my own bm project Archonian.

I must admit though, that a great many black metal bands (Funeral Mist) sound like shyt.

I listen to a few Death Metal bands, and I agree about CC. Although I like a few older albums. I haven't really heard Funeral Mist, but I agree that a lot of bands sound like ****. Some try to hard to be "raw" and it ends up being horrible.

I used to be right into black metal. Still sorta am. I saw Satyricon again and met Frost again, hes a cool guy.

More into doom metal these days.

I still love Morbid Angel, Slayer and Dimmu Borgir.

Can't say i enjoy old black metal or bands that try to sound old, poor production quality is just painful.

yeah, cannibal corpse is just awful. they try way too hard to be "brutal".

I especially can't stand the vocals, that low pitched growl makes him sound like he's belching the words.

I prefer black metal vocals. Most lead singers (sreamers) at least use some range in their vocals from high pitched, to medium, to low pitched screams and growls. Case in point - Dark Funeral's Emperor Magus Caligula, his voice is awsome in their new cd "Angelus Exuro pro Eternus". See their new video "My Funeral" on www.darkfuneral.se, the non-rated version.
