The dishonest use of the name "Christian"

Bob Dixon

>implying
Admittingly, I made a distinction between orthodox Christians and adherents of heretical doctrines. The kind of heretical doctrine I really had in mind were the kind that deny the divinity of Jesus.

You still haven't demonstrated that the earliest Christians worshipped Jesus as God.

What if I decide to change my name to "Sunstone?" I'd like to take your avatar as well and design my profile so that it's so similar that on the surface people will not be able to distinguish between us. Would you appreciate that?

so it's about the surface, presentation and image.

how incredibly shallow, well for me that is.

doesn't this contradict the notion that jesus wants a personal relationship with people?
or are you the one who's wanting a relationship with those that call themselves christian...

While we're on the subject of freedom:

Galatians 5:6 The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. NIV

what does that mean for todays "christian"

you have those that believe tough love is to be shown to the homosexual community as they down right ignore..."treat other as you would like to be treated" and "give to those that ask of you without expecting it to be returned"
as showing gods love somehow...

does control = christian love?

A Christian's job I think ought be to spread the message of Jesus. Not force others into living the way they think they should.

Allow everyone to judge and decide for themselves without judging that person.
Some Christians are like that.

You mean there are actually christians that don't cherry pick verses that they like while ignoring others?

You actually believe some christians don't pig out at the buffet while their children run wild and sit and talk about the evil homosexuals next door to them?

I'm proud of you for not stereotyping all Christians, thank you!

My Grandmother was a Christian like that so...
Her church had a homosexual female pastor.
That's kind of who I had in mind. Her work with the church made her happy. They would work with other churches to do a lot of charity work. She never tried to force her religious beliefs on me.

Exactly. Kurios is applied to angels in the LXX

Here's a thought: Jesus never condemned homosexuals. He didn't even condemn prostitutes. WHAT WAS HE THINKING???

Matthew 12:7 If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent. NIV
