labs all over the world keep telling us that carbon 14 dating is only accurate up to 500 years, also carbon 14 does not stay in anything longer than 100,000 years so how in the world can you accurately date anything older than 500 years, i've been watching the science channel i think all these so-called experts are accidently proving a young earth your right about 13,000 !!!!!!!
One person you want to talk to is Painted Wolf. She's an evolutionist, but she'll help without snarling at you.
(I'm pretty much useless in biological & dating matters. And that's true in all senses of the word "dating".)

You know the difference between 500 years and 4 billion years, right?

(I say that only because you're not taking into account how the earth is actually dated)

Which science channels have you been watching??

The earth was is only 66 years old. I have proof, the oldest calender I can find in my junk drawer is dated 1945.

Now I am puzzled over how come I'm 71 years old. But my grand kids do keep reminding me that I'm "older than dirt." I guess they are right.

OK, seriously now.
Butchjerrold, do you think carbon fourteen is the only method we have for dating?
Google Radiometric dating. Google dendrochronology, palynology, amino-acid racemization, ice core dating, stratigraphic dating, faunal dating, seriation, &c, &c, &c.
We can usually date something using two or three different methods. When they all agree we can be pretty sure we're in the right ball park.
