When ISIS was expanding, Conspiracy theorists said it was end times.
There will always be harsh realities of human nature and life. The end will come to those who fail to act when facing these realities.

There's always a chance that we're almost at the end...of something...End of the World? I strongly doubt it. End of the Era where the US is a Republic? Perhaps, but I still doubt it. End of era in which Christians dominate political decision-making in the US? I certainly hope so, but expect that continue for awhile yet.

What? Me worry?
When I am confronted by some wild-eyed religioso that tells me these are the "end times" I ask them what did their boss say when they quit? They usually have an intelligent response such as "huh?". Well, I would continued, if you really believe these are the "end times" why in the world would you continue to work? Most of the time this met by silence or some veiled remark questioning my ancestral species.

I call nonsense too.
We are always on the cusp of extinction-level events. There are several ways we could all be dead tomorrow. Here are some ways that various governments could guarantee the deaths of almost every human on Earth within a month:
- Make cigarettes free
- Use WD-40 on the Ocean
- Crossbreed spiders with African bees (yes someone would)
- Teach cats hypnosis
- Clone the dinosaurs
- Let super mice escape from Science labs
We are in all probability doomed already.
