The Golden rule or 'eye for an eye?'

I think the vengeful "eye for an eye" makes us all end up blind, but the justice "eye for an eye" is there to stop the escalation of the problem.

Justice is applied by a law and follows specific regulations that involves educated and experienced minds (law keepers). This could find a middle ground to solve the problem that could end up with a small amount of money or even forgiveness if those educated and experienced minds were good enough. Even then it would be still called "eye for an eye" because both sides left with content. In my beliefs even murder could end up with full forgiveness with both sides content.

Justice could include vengeance, but if vengeance is taken without justice, I believe is where the problem lies.

At any rate, my point of all that is that the concept of "eye for an eye" does not stand alone and can never be completely omitted. It is but an item under justice.

...or so I believe.
