The fourth book's subtitle is "The Fourth Book in the Increasingly Inaccurately-Named Hitchhiker's Trilogy"

What are you all's favorites? Would you like for them to do movies of all the books, or just the first?

My absolute favorite person is Ford Prefect. I feel bad that I was a bit startled that they chose someone I would not have envisioned him as to play him, but I'm sure he'll do fine.

I just hope they include Majikthise and Vroomfondel!!:D I am very passionate about some books and sometimes it can spoil a movie for me.Thats why I wasn't as crazy for Return of the King as I was for the other two.

Hmm...I'm afraid I have no idea what all these inside jokes are about. I've never read any of the "Hitchhikers Guide" books...does everyone recommend them?

What's it about, exactly? It all sounds really weird...

YES YES YES READ THEM!

They're the kind of books that are hilariously, intelligently funny. They're worth a read, even if you end up not liking them. I believe you can find them online...at least parts. Let me see if I can find you the prologue.

By the way, I think that's the whole book. The next chapter button is in the lower right-hand corner.

How about "They will be the first ones up against the wall when the revolution comes!"
And, due to a time-travelling incident, if I remember correctly, 'they were the first ones up against the wall when the revolution came.'

Spinks, I think you would really like the books. It's very subversive humor, combined with forays into discussions about humanity and Earth (the alien visiting Earth, Ford Prefect, forced to condence the article he's been working for 15 years on for a kind of intergalatic book of knowledge and things- to- know called "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", dubs it 'Mostly harmless'- to explain at least that reference). Since everyone always describes "Discworld" books as " 'Hitchhiker's' for fantasy", then I'll break down and describe it as " 'Discworld' for science fiction." You don't have to be a science fiction fan, though it does help to get the more obscure jokes. If you're at all a fan of British comedy, I'd recommend it even more.

Douglas Adams was actually in possession of a book called "The hitchhikers guide to Europe" ,and thought that it would be interesting if someone wrote a similar book called "The hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy". He stated that he never imagined at that time he would be the one to do it.

Just got back from seeing the movie. It was ok. The story was changed a lot from the book. The only way I can describe it is : If you loved Shakespear and saw a play in which the lines were butchered, This is how I felt about HHGTTG.
The effects were good but the acting was uninspired. They made this movie to appeal to a wide audience, but they did retain the original intent of the story: People worry too much about politics and religion and don't spend enough time living life.

Three out of five smilies.:) :) :)

I saw it today too. I was a little disappointed, but my son liked it. Although our biggest thrill was seeing the Star Wars preview. Hitchhiker was OK, but not a movie I'll be buying.

So has anyone seen the movie? Did you like it? Does anyone feel they left out anything out? Did the actor's portray the character the way you imagined it? How does the movie compare to the BBC broadcast? Would Douglas Adams be proud of this intepretation?
