The insults don't serve you well

People don't seem to understand that, when you post, your audience is the whole world, not just the one person. The whole world is seeing you be rude to someone. The whole world is watching you insult someone.

I don't think everyone cares about what we do here. That's pretentious.

Yes, while certainly everyone here on RF is hanging on my every word, and is amazed by my wisdom, and even my insults...I think it is the very nature of the forum that we operate behind anonymous facades of who we really are with people we will almost certainly never meet in real life (I know there have been exceptions, though). Our avatars allow us to be rude, or magnanimous, or whatever else we want when we would most likely not do so in person.

The whole world does not visit RF. This place used to have a lot more attendees but they got tired of all the rules and the over enforcement of the rules.

People get frustrated in debates and say something bad. I do it at times, we all do but nothing said or done here is really important or means anything to the universe. World leaders are not checking RF to see what any of us said about any subject.

Go out and look at the universe tonight and you will see. This is just the earth and we're just humans, barely evolved from apes.

Well the whole world should toughen up a little. Insulting is practically an artform in some cultures. Where I live if someone does not insult you, it means they dislike you. Besides, "whole world" is a bit hyperbolic. This is RF, not teh facebooks or the twitter. It's all a little inconsequential anyway. I mean if you go out of your way to insult someone and further harass them, then you're a dick and should check yourself.

It's a nice sentiment and all. But let's be real here. This is the interwebz. 90% porn, 9% insults and 1% intelligent discourse.

I'm going to get rich and buy up the forum. I'll scuttle anything I don't want seen.

So, your saying people don't understand. Is that some sort of slight of hand?;)

I do know what you mean though @Willamena. In case anyone needs reminding, everything you post can be viewed by public except for Site Feedback and the Private forums. Also people from many different countries from around the world see this stuff.

So? Why should I care exactly? People ought to get a load of me in person. I tone things down for RF.

I was telling someone else on the RF forums that what you say here tells a lot about your character. Shows lack of caring when you don't mind insulting someone even if the world saw you.

Reminds me of Romans throwing "criminals" to the lions and people in the stands yelling and cheering them on.

Well, you know, someone had to feed those caged lions. ;)

Perhaps for some. I behave the same way here as I do in person. I'm impeccable with my word.

With regard to the OP, how someone reacts to my words is a reflection of his/her reality. Likewise, the words of another are a projection of his/her reality. I certainly have complete control over whether or not I allow the words of another to impact my reality. I don't take anything personally.
