I'm going to win by doing something constructive today. When and for how long are open to question but the deed itself is locked into my consciousness. So I'll give you all a big, toothsome grin

I have seen very glum dogs also. My daughter once, while pretending to offer a biscuit to a lab, suddenly put it in her mouth. You should've seen the barking and sulking. Even today after a lapse of 4 years it greets my daughter with a bark and ignore.

So I can easily defeat a doggie.

I have sob story. Once when I was 10 or 11 year old, some one gifted me a puppy not dissimilar to the one shown above. It was darker and I named it Jimmy, except that it was a girl. Jimmy became my life for about a month. Then my father conspired and left Jimmy some where. First time it came back but second time time it did not.

I decided never to keep a pet dog. I do not like the heart break.

I have one.

When I was a child, I grieved a lot over the death of my sister's dog. I remember deciding it just hurt to much and I didn't want to ever love a pet like that. For many years I did not have or want one. I found I could have very little feeling for them, indifference.

When my children were little this sweet little dog, darker than the one I posted, but looking similar -- a girl -- came wandering into our lives, and we found she was owned by a neighbor that had decided to stop feeding her so she'd go away (so we got permission to keep her.) I had to intentionally get past the decision not to love a dog again. I'm glad I did. She has since died, and I still cry sometimes when I think about her. I still love her.
