If you are from Louisiana, please forgive my humor about your state. I am from Missouri. We got nuthin.
My grandfather was from Louisiana, and the woman he married, my grandmother, was from Missouri. Or as she pronounced it, Missoura. But they both ended up leaving their states of birth and winding up in California, where they met and got married and had two children, one of whom was my mother.
I never really got to know much of my grandmother's Missouri relatives, as it appeared she was on the outs with most of her family - at least the ones who were still alive anyway. I've traveled through there a number of times. A lot of farms and trees, just like most states.
Louisiana is famous for their food, as well as New Orleans and Dixieland Jazz. There was also the Battle of New Orleans.
Missouri is famous for Jesse James. It was also affected by the Civil War, as Missouri had its own little state Civil War within the larger War Between the States. The St. Louis Arch is also a popular attraction, symbolizing an era in American history when St. Louis was the launching point for settlers heading further West. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn were from Missouri. It was also Harry Truman's home state.
