Replaced the motor in my wife's beloved wall clock today and it seems to be working. There was a minor hiccup when the second hand keep getting stuck on the minute hand but I bent it up a bit, not sure if that's how the pros do it.
That splains why I kept seeing time stop every now & then.
Stop that!

Long story, well it seems mind numbingly long.

My long time (British) phone carrier said that follow brexit they would not let their customers in Europe down by introducing roaming charges. The day i flew to the UK they introduced roaming charges leaving me unable to phone home to tell Paul we had arrived at the airport safely. Once we arrived in the UK the phone sprang back into life...

Return to France, no connection and i couldn't buy roaming because, guess what, i had no roaming so couldn't phone to buy roaming...

I invested in a sim from a french company. The phone was locked to the UK carrier, i got an unlock code, it didn't work, the phone was frozen to the carrier...

Remember i couldn't text of phone the carrier, they only accept calls from phones they have supplied... So contact through the chat bot over the internet that i had to convince to upgrade me contact to a human service agent. Forget about all the security checks, i am not going there.

First, oh you need to contact your new carrier for the unlock code. Several days later i got my new carrier to understand that i needed an unfreeze code, oh non madam, your get that from your UK carrier.

Contacted the chat bot again, same drawn out rigmarole to speak to a human. Eventually i convince them i need an unfreeze code, they say they will put in a request, i can expect the code by email in 10 working days.

Time up, no code, contact the chat bot to connect me with a human, a nice guy gave me the unfreeze code over the phone.

Inserted the new sim and entered the code... It didn't work.

Contacted the chat bot again and convinced it i needed a human to solve my problem. A nice man said i do seem to be having troubles he will contact samsung and request a master unlock code.

It arrived half an hour ago. Entered the master unlock code. It asked for the network unlock code... Yippee, it's never done that before... Entered the network unlock code... Yippee my french SIM works.

A winner that has taken a month to earn...

I had a similar experience when trying to change my internet provider many years ago. The old company hadn't taken some kind of code off the line but because both companies were resellers for another company the company that owned the actual physical equipment couldn't tell any of the 3 parties what the problem was to protect the privacy of the other 2. I know that is gibberish but it's impossible to explain without gibberish.

And all who voted "leave" are thrilled they stuck it to the French.
