If you start by thinking that W11 involves more control by Microsoft, less functionality (for your own good because you can't handle complexity), making it uglier to force you into a monthly "windows as a service" and to make it easier to deliver ads then you're on the right track. We have to deal with a computer for a group we're in... Windows 11 got downloaded onto it, and now none of us can figure it out to use it(so we've been ignoring it).
I have not look into Win11 much, but this is not surprising....are you talking Home or Enterprise? If you start by thinking that W11 involves more control by Microsoft, less functionality (for your own good because you can't handle complexity), making it uglier to force you into a monthly "windows as a service" and to make it easier to deliver ads then you're on the right track.
Professional which is 'home' + the ability to join a domain. Not enterprise which is for big companies that are powerful enough for Microsoft to not inflict a lot of the crap on them that they do on the rest.I have not look into Win11 much, but this is not surprising....are you talking Home or Enterprise?
I still do full, I own them, installs of office, but MS REALLY wants you do do the cloud based monthly payment plan and I REALLY don't want to do the cloud based monthly payment plan

I have Quicken 2017 and have avoided any later versions for just that reason. But they have made it impossible to install that on new computers so my wife needs to use mine for her checkbook balancing. There are sadly no really good alternatives that I've.
2023 we see replaced "I owe my soul to the company store" with "I owe my soul to the monthly payment plan"
Just like Adobe. Anything but Reader is all cloud based now. And Adobe has another great function. If you install something but don't use it, Adobe will do you a favor by uninstalling it. And if you do not update it, they will do you another favor by disabling it... Adobe is one of the few companies I dislike more than Microsoft
Enterprise is a monthly subscription AFAIK.Professional also has a few other options too, but I am use to enterprise, I run it whenever and wherever I can
