It all depends upon rarity, age, desirability, condition, & provenance.
Scrap is scrap. Antique rusty something or other is a different matter.

There are complexities.
Recently I sold some silver coins. Even older ones that I thought had numismatic value were bought for the silver content and nothing else. The price of silver overrode any other consideration.
