I hate America's lack of such things. It's basically just work and then die here.

Yeah you'll miss the sunday night entertainment. After the 2nd parade of the day (this years topic) will be "freedom" so I'm expecting the parades to be a bit wild. After the parade the bands come on stage. Starts with a not so bad band for the oldies ;-), usually not worth remembering but we had Faun once, and then a rock band, typically a French band though sometimes from further afield. Always pretty good. A couple of years ago we had Saxon. Before that Gorjira

And then the fireworks, the whole valley side is used as the stage for that.

A winning weekend for a village (and surrounding hamlets) of just ove 500 peeps.

Nice!
But I'm pretty sure I win and have partied harder. Not for as long of a period, but one hard night of crazy stunts, antics and events, live music from local bands who are there to please the crowd and party (and not make money because they don't at thess shows) until the cops show up or the headliner gets tired of playing, and people drinking like fish, smoking (pot) like a chimney, devouring shrooms, dropping acid, and ample amd plenty of various signs and bits of evidence and things heard that prove not everyone in America is a sex shy prude.
But that crowd is also overran with rejects, outcasts, misfits, degenerates, reprobates and others who ill assimilated to society's squarer than square, loser standards.

We don't get rejects often. Nearest large towns are all over 25km away and no public transport.

The police avoid us, only once have they been called... to break up a fight.
Since then they insisted that the beer/wine tents close at midnight (so everyone stocks up)

And they fear what will happen if the fear on the part of the citizens diminishes along with the ever useful hate.
They keep their population pretty much in check with propaganda and fear, remember they control all sources of news

They see the US moving in to the Pacific with a heavy hand.

Is that interfering with their assumed plans for future world domination,

Or could it all be a chinese ploy to **** the US off.

My main concern is that they might be "trolling" and that way, they can either get away with it and try to look strong, or provoke another country to a first strike where they can justify any use of force.

The US has had joint operations with Japan in that area for years, that is nothing new, The US has had Military bases in Japan and South Korea for years, The US has had multiple relations with multiple countries in that area for years, so that is nothing new. The US has been in the Pacific with Japan, Taiwan and South Korea for years, my father was on an Aircraft Carrier in the Formosa Strait during the Vietnam war, so this nothing new. What is new is Xi, his policies and a general lack of concern about the US due to its internal political issues. The US is seen as divided, weak, and unable to respond to any major threat. Add to that Xi is watching the Ukraine Russia war vert closely, this will help him decide waht to do in Taiwan...which by the way he wants a plan in place my 2027 to do just that.

It's hard to say where this could all lead. Of course, the US has been operating in the Pacific with a heavy hand for more than a century, so the Chinese have grown accustomed to our presence. WW2 and Cold War geopolitics shaped the current situation, and when the Cold War ended, the U.S. seemingly hit some plateau where the leadership hasn't been able to figure out what to do next, other than go on business as usual.

The U.S. is kind of unpredictable in a lot of ways.

Sin : an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law.

No divinity, no divine law, i rest my case with a winner
I use the "Humpty-Dumpty" definition that a word means what I say it means and that is a winning approach.

Igl bulp sminds agarn slup burp phurt diggle

You mean like that? It's sort of like what people read when redefine words to suite yourself.
