Nervous win.

I have an appointment(via zoom) with a psychiatrist for Ares. I worry I'll be brushed off and it will just be labeled 'autism related aggression'. And for the love of the Gods, please don't give him any more sedatives. For whatever reason, they amp him, or do nothing. He doesn't have ADHD. You tested that years ago(despite the screening saying he likely didn't), and he(at 4 years old) about busted my van windows in.

Sometimes I feel that autism label gets in the way. There's a lot of assumptions made that are detrimental to receiving the care he needs. (Not all are hypersensitive, some are hyposensitive, not all hate change, some crave it, and while HFA and LFA are the ones that get more attention, there are some that function in the middle, etc)

I think it's that way with many things. They treat the symptoms rather than finding the root cause.

I hope the psychiatrist is one who knows what it's all about.

Agreed. They also tend to treat what they think would be bothersome, and ignore that there's anything else.

The fact that he's as hyper as a bunch of young primates who ate nothing but chocolate and have drank nothing but coffee for three days is not problem. That's what the gym membership is for, and I'm prepared to sit there half the day with him if he's using his time productively(track, pool, basketball, etc).

The fact that he makes strange bird noises until he puts himself into a mania and then lays on his back and kicks me while laughing and screaming is what I'd like to address.

I don't mean to brag but I just opened one of those containers from the supermarket that has hard plastic on the bottom and soft plastic sealing it with my fingers. Normally I pull and scratch near the "open here" message for 10 minutes before swearing and grabbing a knife and stabbing it.
but the swearing and the stabbing are what make it fun and worthwhile

The only way I have been able to make progress is when I worked out that IBS and Menier's Disease are a doctors way of saying I don't know but I'll prescribe you something anyway. My neighbour has an autistic son and from listening to her it seems like a similar thing.

I don't feel like I'm winning.

Damn psych couldn't move past the hyperactivity and the fact he refused to Zoom with her.

He detests Zoom.
