Well you wouldn't want your cleaning lady thinking you live in a dirty house... would you?
We do straightening before our cleaners arrive because we want them to clean rather than move our detritus around. I also confess to picking up large pieces of dog toys and large piles of dog fur so I have a mild case of what @John53 's wife has. (My mild case involves 5 minutes of effort.)
We don't have one here, in the UK when hubby and i were working up to 18 hours a day we had a full time, live in house keeper. Wonderful woman, did it all. Cleaning up before the cleaner seems very odd
