Back then I was mostly in my macho, ocker, homophobic phase of life. Sequins wouldn't have worked.

LeeAnder's father kinda fits your above description. LeeAnder hasn't come out to his dad yet.
I did thrill him awhile back, though...
When LeeAnder was very young, his dad was visiting(we'd broken up, but were civil to each other). I had a background on my computer of Bill and Tom Kaulitz(of Tokyo Hotel). Bill was a bit androgynous. LeeAnder's dad commented "hey, that chick is pretty hot!" I let him know that man's name was Bill. "Oh." Quick subject change. Ten minutes later: "Can you change your background? I think that guy's hot and its making me very uncomfortable." I was happy to. I found one where he had an open shirt. LeeAnder's dad went home.
LeeAnder was absolutely giddy to hear that story. He changed his phone background to that very same background picture I had all those years ago.
Maybe there's hope for him to smarten up as he gets older. Took me about 40 years.
Maybe someday.
I think he'd soften up a little if he actually knew about LeeAnder... though I hear his wife's equally homophobic and temperamental, so I understand why LeeAnder's opting not to share at this point. Sucks it has to be like that, though.
