True. But it does explain why the cost of travel might be prohibitive.
Those are Martian sand dunes. Lower air pressure and lower gravity may account for their incredibly alien appearance.
Aside from the cost, I think travel time might also be prohibitive, even if you could hitch a ride...

Oh rats! Further Googling told me that the image I posted was squooshed. That is the picture was shortened on a horizontal scale. As we all know from stepping on insects, whether accidentally or on purpose a vertical shortened object is squashed.
Here is the original picture, unsquooshed:
Still pretty weird. We do not tend to have two different sizes of ripples on dunes here.

The power company was wrong wrong and again wrong. But I'm not complaining as the power was restored much much earlier than they said.

I think i prefer the squooshed. It looks more alien.
