Are the cats reincarnated Romans?
Correct, families would leave buckets of it out, a collector went round and paid an as or two per bucket. It was used in the laundry vats as bleach. Slaves would stand in the vats and stamp on the white clothing.

None of my cats think they're gods, but one of the dogs sure thinks she is... she's driving me nuts.
