It was on fire when I laid down on it.
35 years ago, I was trying to get national ranking in beer drinking. Then, for some reason, I lost interest in volume and began to pursue quality instead. I'm not sure I achieved great heights as a connoisseur, but my tastes greatly improved and my intake dropped way off.

I just want to be healthy for my age or perhaps a bit better than that.

Preparing food for just one is always a problem to me. But it can be done. It helps to have a good grocery available. I did it by cutting up my own produce when I could and eating it up as needed, but when I couldn't do that, I could buy it already prepared for a bit more.
I get several Factor meals delivered per week. I hate to cook for one! I really cannot do it very well. I end up with a big pot of something or other that I eat on all week.

I can cook and like to cook Japanese and Chinese food... also I can bake... but Mrs Wu didn't want me to spend the money on it when we were first married..... Use to even cook for Chinese friends who thought it was good....... have not done any in years...last time caused a fight because our youngest like my fried rice better than her mothers....so,..... I don't cook..... I will start again when I retire though....

Back when life was less chaos, I used to pick a region and cook only from there for a few days to a week.

Taught me to cook some pretty diverse stuff.

I miss doing that, but with everyone eating their own stuff, its not worth it financially.

I used to let my son and his friends pick out a dessert for me to (usually) bake every week. I enjoyed that and made a lot of memories that we share/

I get that for sure. I'm reminded of my mother who was used to cooking for a small army. When the army dispersed, it took a good while for her to adjust to the changes. I

It is a challenge to eat well and rational when my older adult life is often as demanding of my time as it has been.
