The latest Nanny state attack on individual choice by the Socialist Democrats commences yet again.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Could you be more specific?
Traffic obstruction applies to protesting and stuff like that? How would it apply here?
Well if you throw yourself into the flow of traffic you're obstructing. You don't need to be a brain surgeon to see that. If you cause an accident you're liable to be sued.

If you're dead you just go to the morgue.

It's major Nanny State hands down. Not to mention another venue for yet another Money Grab.

There are already laws in place for being stupid. It's implemented socialism that puts yet another clamp on individuals by the Socialists.

That's a lot of Baloney...……..

On the contrary it's a lot of clamping down on people's individual choices through government-backed extortion tactics made in the proverbial, "Save people from themselves".

Most people can text and walk just fine.

Besides the superhero complex coupled with an inflated sense of superiority, makes for a pretty poor justification.
Can they? I don't know. I've seen a lot of people walk into traffic, other people, cars, poles, etc. while texting and walking. Like texting and driving, it's a distraction. A distraction that can get you and others killed.

Is it embarrassing that people have to be told to pay attention when they're driving or walking? Yep! But apparently it's necessary.

It looks like you're whole thing about superiority is a projection.

This Causes 11,000 Injuries a Year—and You’re Probably Doing it Every Day

Maridav/ShutterstockWalking is super good for you, unless you happen to text and walk. In which case you’re putting yourself at serious risk: ... In fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian deaths numbered 5,376—and were the only group of road users whose fatality numbers increased.

The issue is our brains evolved to focus attention on primarily one task at a time. It’s a phenomenon psychologists refer to as inattention blindness. (If you think you’re able to multitask, try the world-famous Selective Attention Test.)

Consider this: 60 percent of people texting while walking veered off course in a study published in 2012 by researchers from New York’s Stony Brook University. At the time, one of the co-authors of the study, Eric M. Lamberg, PT, EdD, noted that he and his fellow researchers were shocked to learn how disruptive talking and texting could be to one’s gait. Just recently, a study out of the U.K. reported that “writing a text message whilst walking” resulted in significant adaptations in gait. And it’s not just writing texts that causes problems. It’s reading texts, checking emails, using social networking apps and even talking on the phone. To varying degrees, they all pull your attention away from minding your safety while walking.

Why should I care? For the same reason I care about driving and texting. It's often other people who get hurt. In the case of texting pedestrians, when they disrupt traffic, someone slams on the brakes, someone gets rear-ended.

It appears to apply only when crossing the street.
For those commies in NYC, that's actually a pretty reasonable prohibition.

Now all they need to do is learn how to cross the street legally. Pedestrians never obey traffic signals in NYC.

Of course, it's not much better here. So many people are simply not mindful of their own safety. We've already had quite a few pedestrian deaths so far, and the year's not even half over.
