The People's Republic of New York once again tells businesses what they can and cannot do.

The attack now is on privately owned hotels who distribute small shampoo and other toiletry items by telling them by mandate they can no longer stock it for their customers by supreme dictate of great powerful chairwoman Kathy Hochul , Supreme Democrat of the People's Party of New York.

That is all. Now stand and respect the great empire state.

I could totally improve China's anthem for them with more metal. Yeah. China needs more metal.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
You should make it your mission in life to inform the citizens of Denmark, Finland, Australia, Japan, Singapore and many others - where the cleanest streets and cities in the world are to be found - that, unknown to them, they are actually living in communist states, with their every act dictated by an autocrat! The rest of us must try to increase pollution and waste as much as we can, it’s the only way to ensure we don’t suddenly become communists.
Oh but they are vastly outdone. So outdone because Kimmy is so concerned about people's safety from disease that he has his people sweeping away rain puddles so mosquitoes don't spread deadly diseases!
I could totally improve China's anthem for them with more metal. Yeah. China needs more metal.
Your wish is my command.......

An excellent initiative. Hopefully more of US will follow.

From your linked article:

Mark Dorr, president of the New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association, says his group supports the incoming ban, while noting about 75% of hotels have already implemented reusable bottles.
Looks like you are trying to make a mountain out of an ant hill....

Most hotels I have been to already do this. Use large glass refillable bottles rather than single use plastic bottles. It cuts back on waste and convenient as well if you want to use more (like if you are coming from beach or something).

I know you are unaware of this, but governments don't actually exist only for businesses. Government also has to pay attention to other things, like everyday citizens, workers, the environment, etc. That sometimes requires balancing some rights against others. Billions of small plastic bottles and other single-use plastic items do tend to get into the environment and not break down. Our landfills and oceans are awash with such garbage, and I've my strong doubts you'd enjoy swimming in a cess-pool, or hiking through streets hip-deep in trash.

Government is plum full of employees who spend huge amounts of time and money fixing problems that do not actually exist.
And other governments go to great effort to ignore problems that do exist. The next Trump government, for example, is promising to do just that.

Single-use plastic waste is a very real, global problem. Over 2 dozen European countries, Australia, Korea and others, along with Canada, are going to great lengths to try and clean up this horrible mess.

Next great People's Project?

Build great People's wall around ocean to stop unglorious people from running to the ocean and throwing their plastic bottles into it.

My approach....
If government tells us what to do, it damn well
should be well worth the imposition, superior
to every alternative, & as libertarian as possible.

Plastics in the environment is a big problem.
I understand what NY intends. What's the best
solution? Compostable containers? Bar shampoo
that requires no container (my favorite)?

Such a shampoo is probably doable. I use only True Earth laundry strips, which require just a small cardboard box packaging for 3 years worth of laundry. No plastics at all, and it works just as well as any other laundry detergent I've ever tried.

Being silly doesn't make for a good argument for anything...
Those plastic bottles throwing people need to be stopped from running to the ocean and throwing their bottles into the water.

I'm sure our glorious supreme chairwoman will think of great solution for all in this great empire with compassion as dear loving mother.

If you think that's the only way plastics get into the ocean, you are obviously not paying attention.

Have you considered why this law was enacted? Have you weighed the benefits and risks?
Isn't one of government's jobs to protect us from our own short term foolishness; to prevent future harm?
