The priest got mad at me because I told him...

Easy for someone to say who's works are largely composed of dick jokes. Also what he meant was likely that anything can be written about. If you find religion so amusing and entertaining, then few can change that view for you. But if you are going to a religious service, then you are absolutely in the wrong to think it's all about you and the giggles that you want given to you.

Jesus in me
"You are a host, and your job is to entertain your guest."

He said something like. "Here you are judging me and telling me I'm an entertainer. I don't go to church to entertain them, I go to church to spread the word of God. Go away. I don't want to talk to you."

Anyways, I know this guy because he goes to my gym. And one day I decided to talk with him about religion which I usually don't. What I told him was I believe that every priest of every religion is a host who entertains his guests.

To me they are like clowns, or comedians, seriously. What is the job of clowns or comedians? Its to entertain their guest, right? Don't they play music and sing songs in every religion? How are they not entertainers? Please tell me. The life is a show, period.

I believe it depends on the customs of the organization. The Foursquare church had a background of spreading the gospel by putting on plays but not all denominations have that background. My experience with Roman Catholic services is that the priest and worshipers do not interact very much. I can't recall a homily that was very entertaining but sometimes one would be informative.

There are singers and bands who entertain with worship music and sometimes they do that in church. Also some preachers are entertaining but that does not mean it is the main purpose of the preaching.

Have you ever sold anything professionally? If you had, I'm not sure you'd draw such a clearcut distinction between sales and entertainment.

Sex sells as they say in Marketing Class. Just show me a girl with a great bod in her daisy dukes washing a car and that car looks really good to me.

And this surprises you...why?

Go tell anyone working in their chosen career they are only there to entertain you and you will likely get a similar response...

The job of data miners is to entertain their clients with beautiful dashboards, am I right?

You're really pushing hard for this "everyone's job is to make sure I fill my chuckle quota" theme, huh? Next we'll hear that emergency response are responsible for entertaining rubber-neckers because the bright lights and sirens mimic a rave.

Haven't we all seen this kind of thing before - even here at this forum?

Person A slyly and subtly insults person B and then is shocked - absolutely shocked and dismayed - by person B's negative reaction to it.

"I was only giving an opinion," whimpers person A all sweetly and innocently. "And then this brute attacked me! See? That's how they are! See? See?"

This shows how unique i am.
For some reason I get the distinct feeling that the OP only thinks this way about this particular religion. In other threads i've seen him treat Islam with respect. And Christianity as a joke. He never makes any comments about Imams being entertainers... :D

In other words: I'm starting to think that the OP is an entertainer.

The title alone is going to draw atheist like flies.

What kind of response do you expect?

They are seen as charlatans.

I'm guessing this was catholic and asked a bunch of non-Catholics the role of a priest?

Makes perfect sense.

I'm sorry, but that has absolutely nothing to do with what you posted and my post so I can't answer that.

Where do you think I got this "clown" idea from?

Why do you think Romney lost? Maybe its because he wasn't good as entertainer as the other guy. The better entertainer wins, right?

Ahhh yeah..... you seem to miss the point and my question.... why did your calling a priest an entertainer and him getting upset surprise you...since saying something similar to just about anyone in their chosen profession would just as likely upset them

One of the ways to get bitcoins is to have a mining rig. Same goes with mining gold, one would need to have a mining rig. Christianity is nothing special, it’s a mining field. Everything is a mining field. One of the things I noticed while living in Thailand is that those tourist bus drivers are actually living in their buses with their spouses. See, the bus is a mining rig and tourism is a mining field. So, as a miner your job is to host and entertain your guest with beautiful end product.

Yes, we have established that point ad nauseam.... however it fails to answer the question......which was....why did your calling a priest an entertainer, and him getting upset surprise you...since saying something similar to just about anyone in their chosen profession would just as likely upset them...possibly even the tour bus driver.
